Way to go Sir Joe Bleeps! This is the only way to become a true Nintendo FAN. And a Nintendo Fan does not not simply redirect you to another video... they provide you with a LINK. True fandom is Zeldom this good 😂 **I will see myself out...** Usually a smaller fan generates a louder noise in comparison with a large fan.

If you peal back the sticker on the fan you can see where the wires are soldered, there should be a label for the wires saying positive and negative. Also, you can just use the Omniconnectors that come with the noctua fan, and no soldering would be required. I know some people don't like a mod when it involves soldering. I used these connectors and fans too on my 3d printer and they work just fine with the Omniconnectors.

Since it's been a year, how well does this cool compared to the stock fan? It would be great to see a comparison of airflow between the stock fan and the Noctua with resistor. Also, was there a bigger fan you could have used?

Same here to be honest, but once the disc noise had gone it became more noticeable. I can certainly tell now the new fan is in, this thing is so quiet!

I like the blue power led, it's also my favo colour ... might do that mod as well. Nice one on the low noise adapter, perhaps that is also useable on the stock fan? Since there is no cable for PWM like on a pc, my guess is that the fan runs at 100% all the time (full 12v) and thus gets a lower voltage and runs slower with the resistor.
@JoeBleeps Жыл бұрын
Maybe, it's just a question of wondering if the fan would keep it cool enough

@@JoeBleeps Yeah sure thing. I modded my game cube the other day and saw the CPU's temp in Swiss, guess you keep an eye on it there (especially on a hot day) to make sure the temps are staying nice and ... tempared ;) Mine seems to run at 42c with the stock fan on a hot day, pretty fair I think.

Just peel back the sticker in the centre of the fan and de-solder the wires, no need to cut and splice. Would putting a resistor inline of the OG Fan have the same impact?
@JoeBleeps3 жыл бұрын
I did have the same thought, but I think the newer ones are more efficient. I'm not sure the OG fan would cool it enough if I added a resistor

i saw this on many Fan Mods. Why is the Fan in Wrong Position? The Fan should blow fresh Air into the Console, right? And the Heat should blow on the other side out. But every Fan i see in Videos suck the Heat inside out. But the smaller Fan, like Noctua Mod with 40mm has not the power to suck the fresh Air from the other side of the Console, the long way from heatsink of the console to the fan and Blow it out. Its better to blow the fresh Air direct into the Console. I have now from 50 Celcius down to 45 Celcius after i changed that.
@1955canuck2 жыл бұрын
Instead of needing to mess about wrapping a piece of tape around one of the soldered joints (before positioning the heat shrink), why didn't you just stagger where the two wires were cut? Then you wouldn't have had any issue with the two soldered connections shorting against each other!

this leads me to wonder if soldering a resister in with the original fan would give the same results
@19maho872 жыл бұрын
It definitly makes it more quiet. You can solder from 22ohm to 100ohm (more is not recommended). Due to some online forum guys, the sweetspot is 50-75ohm which results in 10-15% more heat but ~5db noise reduction.

This has been a complete failure for me. I bought this exact fan and even with the "low noise adapter" it is still LOUDER than the original fan. The original was 60dB. This fan without low noise adapter came in at 70dB. With low noise adapter 65dB. Absolutely terrible idea this.
@JoeBleeps2 жыл бұрын
For me it was louder than the original fan until the resistor was added in, after which it was definitely much quieter. It's not a job I'd be rushing out to do on any other GameCube unless I was finding the fan noise to be really problematic.
