Nintendo Made Some World Records Unbeatable...

Nintendo has made an effort to balance the vehicles in this game, starting with the introduction of the Invincibility stat in Wave 3. While these changes never outright nerfed any vehicles in Time Trials, it seems like Wave 5 has brought along changes to the game that break Time Trials in an unexpected way.

mk7 features this same quirk! (used for optimization in the toad circuit wr, i believe.) this all has to do with the game's faulty deceleration physics; the bike doesn't always return to its max speed after a boost, sometimes it drops slightly below it until it accelerates/decelerates again. in short, can this be fixed? yes; the best fix is making it so, if you were to decelerate below your max speed after a boost, the game should put you at exactly the max speed instead. this generates some free timesave on all tracks again, but removes this annoying problem entirely. technical explanation: after a boost runs out, the bike's speed drops until it's below the max; it then doesn't go back up to the max, affecting the driving in straight stretch. and because the mt stat affects deceleration after a boost, after the patch it just so happens that you often decelerate to a value further from max speed. turning while decelerating can manipulate the value to drop more quickly, maybe closer to top speed. perhaps the inward wrs aren't unbeatable, but the new frontier of optimization will absolutely be optimizing boost deceleration so speed drops as close to the max as possible.

@@mr_snowy14 all vehicles are affected. it matters most for high-speed combos. as shown in the video, the moonview highway wrs (with circuit special) are quite affected by boost deceleration, as are the sport bike wrs

@@SirCorvid I play online with a high speed & high acceleration combo: Wiggler, Pipe frame, GLA tires, paper glider. I think it only has 0.75 less acceleration than Yoshi/Teddy. Does the high acceration help counter the speed loss?

They should just have world records be set per update so for example (X player) gets world record on a track and the next update drops he has the world record for that version of the game and opening up a spot for the next update

I don't know about the rest of you but I think Nintendo did this intentionally and may not fix it in short Nintendo Secretly Hated the Meta and they'll do whatever it takes to stop it if they understand the consequences of their actions they wouldn't have done it to begin with so you're in the right to wait but until then I'll adapt until then hopefully this isn't forever but I highly doubt this is an accident at this rate.
