Japan has very different laws on crediting artists, since a lot of workers prefer to be anonymous to the public they only credit them once (in the game credits on this case) and then the copyright goes directly to the company. It is established in their contract.

Yeah, it’s definitely an issue, but is not just a “Nintendo is evil” issue; it’s more of a “Japanese law and customs around art are insanely confusing and they need to be reformed” issue.

Even if you download music, the app itself still runs off of WiFi, so if you’re in a low cell-service area (or if you have low bandwidth), the app just straight up won’t open, or won’t play your *already downloaded* music.

Maybe they'll change it since so many people are complaining but I can't remember Nintendo ever going back and updating any of their credits on any games or projects or the like. Having composer-specific playlists would be cool but I wouldn't bet on it happening. The biggest problem is really the selection of soundtracks. There's way too few. That is what I've been talking about. A lot of composers remain mentioned only in the credits (so that should be the bare minimum). When it comes to Mario, one of the few OSTs (with multiple composers) that goes into more detail is Super Mario Odyssey. But I want Tears of the Kingdom and Origami King individual credits, too. Though it appears Japan just loooves corporate credit. Sp very few Japanese composers get proper recognition, where I think of Koji Kondo, Yoko Shimomura, and Nobuo Uematsu.

True, but another problem is the small amount of games. Other then the Switch, no console has more then 3 games, not every console is represented. For example, Mario, the biggest video game character of all time, only has four of his games represented, and no character playlist. No 3ds or Wii U games(minus Mario Kart 8, but they're using Deluxe, so it doesn't count), and say what you want about those consoles, but the Nintendo games on those consoles have some amazing soundtracks. people keep saying no composer credits despite the fact splatoon 3 ost has like quarter of its ost

Okay, I was expecting this to be a little nitpick going into this short, but I actually really agree with this. I wish this would get more attention, because those composers DO deserve a mention. (Also commenting so this video gets more exposure) Thanks for reading this, viewer! 🌷🐛

The credit to the splatoon artist is there cause that's legit HOW they show up ingame the "/ [splatoon artist]" just check the jukebox/ when a match starts Tho seems like a bigger issue since a jp music artist came out and explained what happened with the short of it is they don't do credits often so the shorten way is the norm over there.

And on top of that, I find it consistently crashes if you tab away from the app while paused and tab back. Like, everything appears fine when you tab back in, but touch anything and it crashes. Plus, there's a 50/50 chance the app will just try to load forever, but if you close out and try again, it works fine. Anyone else experience this?

Aaawww... real artists are cared for. This makes me warm and fuzzy just cause of the youtuber. Thanks~ Cause i've been beginning to value my work more than myself with a toxic thought process like "It outlives me anyway. People only care about what i can give them. They like the art more than me." But an artists' work is a reflection of the artist.

Glaring issue: Kirby Star Allies is missing one of the Hyness songs and it annoys me because it is my favourite of the four Hyness songs.

I'm surprised he didn't mention the fact that not only do you need a Nintendo Online membership to use the service, but you also need internet to use it too (and thats not even including the fact that its not available in plenty of places so not everyone will be able to listen to Nintendo music legally). Like at that point, why not just create a music studio to sell said music to KZbin Music, Spotify, Apple Music, etc? It'll not only be way easier to get folks to listen to your music, but you'll be able to sell said music in physical form too if they so feel like it (basically a win-win for everyone)

Another glaring issue is that there's no F-Zero X soundtrack on launch. That soundtrack is many people's favourite Nintendo OST of all time, myself included.

Did Kazumi Totaka compose most of the Wii U music? I always found that systems music and sound effects to be so dreamy

I may be erong but each game has ending credits for when u complete the game right and the people that made the game and composed the music for the game gets credited in that specific game so in my opinion they have already given plenty of credit towards the composers

There's actually a handful of problems that make this.. not so cool. The lack of credits to composers is probably the biggest issue, but alongside that there's the lack of a free version with ads, the fact you can't just loop songs like you can on KZbin, the worry that new songs will be dripfed like everything else on Switch Online, and the fact it's launch library includes 22 songs which is pathetic for a company that's made hundreds of games by now. Most the games included don't even have a complete library of songs in there.

Apple Music exists, and several other service which disallows you from using the service without subscription. And you can totally loop songs and playlist here. Cooperation greeds? Yes it is, and always have been.
