Geez does this series bring back memories. I'm not that old (almost 18) but I've been getting Nintendo Power since I was five years old. Puts a smile on my face watching these videos. Thank you!

Thank you for the support :) I will try... I wish I had the first 50 issues done. It would be pretty cool to watch them in succession and see gaming history unfold.
@NESComplex12 жыл бұрын
Thanks, bro. I don't know how, but this episode is longer, too. Plus I actually cut out a few segments that were making the video drag a little.
@NESComplex12 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much. I'm trying to do them... one by one. There are so many other ideas I want to record and I have so little time. I'll try to get them all eventually.

This is a great effort to preserve our gaming heritage. For those old enough to remember, Nintendo Power was the most important source for gaming news back then, and each page seemed to always be filled with information, images...pure wonder. I'm going to miss Nintendo Power, but I am content in knowing that through efforts like this, the magazine will never truly be forgotten.
@NESComplex12 жыл бұрын
Thanks James. I don't know how I missed your comment. I'm so glad you said this episode was "pure nostalgia" because I'm trying so hard to create that feeling in this series... It's nice to know that it's working :) Can't wait for another chocolatey batch of easter eggs.
@NESComplex12 жыл бұрын
Thank you for understanding about the delay between videos. It really is time-consuming to edit the way that I do, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I really want make videos I'm proud of.

Thank you for watching and saying such kind words about this video. It really means a lot to me. Sometimes I start to wonder if these videos are having the desired effect. Then I get an awesome comment like yours and I'm overjoyed that I could bring out the nostalgia. Sorry about the water heater explosion :) Thanks also for noticing the Saved By The Bell reference. No one else has said a word about it.

Thank you for watching. It seems that there's a pretty big retro community in Australia. Am I right? I see a lot of comments and subscribers from down under. Thanks again!

I can't wait for the next episode either. I wish I could take a few days off and plow through these videos. I love reliving my childhood through NP.

You're welcome! I look forward to those, gotta get you a weekly tv show! You're tapping in to the nostalgia vibe that I look for in a KZbin channel, lotta replay value in your videos as well. Thanks for all of your hard work.

Holy KZbinrs Batman! That's quite a crowd of amazing guys! It's hard to believe you mentioned me in the same sentence. I am humbled. I will keep trying to make videos that you'll enjoy. It is so rewarding to time travel back into the 80s and 90s and see what gaming was like..

Thank you! I didn't see much on YT about Nintendo Power and I love the mag, so I thought it would be unique for the retro gaming community. As far as editing goes... OCD perfectionism is a blessing and a curse! lol. I'm glad you appreciate it :)

Wow! Thank you! I enjoy them quite a bit, too. I wish my life wasn't so busy all the time. I am such a perfectionist. I put ridiculous amounts of time into each episode. I hope to have another one out in a month or so... i have a few other projects to finish up first.

Just subscribed. Thank you so much for these. NP was a big part of my childhood. An issue in my mailbox always made for a great day! So sad to see it go by the wayside this past December, but rest assured I scooped up the final issue. Thank you, again! Great work, and I look forward to more. (My personal favorite was the Link to the Past issue...can't wait)

I totally agree. and to be perfectly honest there are times when pouring over these magazines is more enjoyable than playing the games. :O Nintendo Power drips with nostalgia in a way that can't be matched.
@NESComplex12 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I don't mind not getting paid, but I wish I had the free time needed to do them on a regular basis. It's really fun, but life pulls in so many ways. I just wrote the script for issue #4 and I'm gonna do #5 as well. I have like 9 episodes of Is It Fun and I need to bring NPTM up to speed. Thanks for your support, bro.

I'm still addicted. I enjoy writing these episodes because the nostalgia is thick.

Wow Wow Wow! This channel is WHY I'm into this hobby all the way. This episode is great. I can only imagine what the next show is going to be like. I must say, you are my favorite KZbinr here. You are so awesome in what you do. I do have fond memories of Track and Field 2 with the exception of the same things you mentioned. Brings back memories of Junior High with all the guys at lunch time talking about secrets and rumors and trading games. Good times.. good times... hell yeah! : )

This is the best video I've seen on youtube in a long time. Makes me want to dig out my old issues from the basement (I think that is where they are)... though, they're probably, sadly, moldy by now. --Damn you, water tank explosion of 2005! Great selection of game music for this video. I can instantly hum them all! And Bonus points for "Lisa?"

I think I have that CYOA book... was it called "Double Trouble" or something? Mario's face is looking in multiple directions or something? I have quite a few CYOA books. They were the video games of reading when I was a kid.

I love the way how you appreciate magazines as time capsules. I have recently had to say goodbye to Nintendo Gamer that was a UK mag. I also have got Nintendo Gamer the Australian mag that went out of print in 2003 and it was unrelated to the UK mag that was called NGC mag at the time. The UK one was formally Super Play and then went onto being N64 mag, then NGC mag and then NGamer and finally Nintendo Gamer that was meant to be for the WiiU until the publisher pulled their pin.

I actually looked it up on Amazon after I commented and added the one I had to my wish list. Double Trouble was the first of the Nintendo Adventure Books series. I had #3 - Monster Mix Up. My parents didn't buy many video games for me until I was in Jr. High. Maybe that's why I loved the CYOA's so much. My favorite was Daredevil Park about a kid who won a trip to a theme park preview. I remember you could die by electricution at the beginning if you chose to watch TV while you took a bath.

What a great video! I totally forgot about Captain N, I loved it as a kid... The only thing I don't like is having to wait for the next issue; with this quality of editing is going to take some time... :-( Thank You!!! (ps: the frog game may have a weird story, but it is really fun)

Captain N was so weird, but I liked it. I used to love that Mario cartoon. My parents didn't buy me video games until I was in Jr. High and the N64 came out (I got a SNES), so I loved anything that was related to games at all. I used to have a choose your own adventure type Mario puzzle novel that I consumed. Would love to get my hands on one of those again.

Don't worry... the water heater destroyed all my college art stuff as well... but I think the magazines and VHS tapes are more important! Good stuff these videos. I think I've laughed and smiled more for this video than probably any other video I've seen in recent memory. And it's funny because it is the same kind of stuff I would be thinking myself! Keep it up! It's funny too, how as a kid I'd be fixated on something from NP that today, as an adult, I would probably never notice.
