Nintendo created the perfect formula with the switch. They combined the handheld and home console into one and i doubt there is anything else they can do to top that. This formula is the best of both world . I still love my 3ds and it's dual screen though....Later

I have the Steam Deck and I have Nintendo Switch, and I love my Switch, but also I love the Steam Deck, and arguably I think the Steam Deck is more affordable because the games are way cheaper. And once I come out with the new Steam Deck, you can play your old Steam games on your new Steam Deck. So you won't have to buy all the games over again.

Hey man something I noticed about your collection display. You might want to check the UV levels of that light or change it to a different color. UV light is the main thing known to cause yellowing in plastic packaging, and it's something you wouldn't notice until you removed it from the display years later to find it's been yellowed. Just wanted to point that out because it looks like you have a great collection of stuff.

Thanks for the heads up on this. I’ll definitely look into to it and make sure I’m not doing damage. I think leds typically don’t emit much if any UV but I’ll have to double check my exact brand cause I wasn’t aware of the yellowing thing. 👍

Imagine if flexible screen tech just gets super cheap in the future and Nintendo releases a Next Gen system after the Switch 2 has finished it's life cycle that has a flexible display that actually not only makes it more interesting for consumers, but also having some neat gimmicks like folding the display backwards so you can play two player on the one device much easier than having to crowd round a small solid display or it could have some gameplay implications like having your gameplay on the folded out portion of the device and then an inventory display on the bottom half like on the DS

Physical media can never be cheaper than digital download, because digital download requires absolutely no materials, except those already embedded into the console, while physical media requires a lot of materials to make individual cartridges, to meet the demand per every client, for every title.

Dont expect the records to stop. The gap between Metroid Prime 4's release and Switch 2 will be no less then 3 to 6 months. Switch will pass DS the real question is if it will pass PS2 . The Switch 2 uses existing nintendo accounts and all future consoles will use our current accounts here on out. Our digital libraries just move forward with us. Choose your eco system but choose wisely. Nintendo will let you keep your purchase sony and microsoft will not.

I’ve loved my switch but I got a steam deck a while back and haven’t even touched my switch since. I will probably get the Zelda game coming up but outside of that I don’t think I’ll play it really until the next system comes out. Steam has so many good games on it and the deck plays them so well.

I think the idea that the Switch's successor being merely an upgraded form the the Switch is off. In the modern market, it's certainly something that a lot of people would want, but it's really not the kind of thing Nintendo would do. Nintendo exited the console specs arms race after the GameCube, and very much on purpose. I think it's clear from a business standpoint that PlayStation and XBox have a shaky future, given the way they're now interacting with the PC gaming market, and that serves to justify Nintendo's position. And while it's true that Iwata isn't Nintendo's president anymore, It's highly unlikely that the Switch's successor wasn't already in the works while he was around. Not to mention that Furukawa is reasonably likely to have at least somewhat similar of a mindset to Iwata. The main philosophy of the company, as it has been for decades now, is that there is no point releasing a new product unless you can interact with it in a new and unique way. This is why there has not been a new F Zero game in so long, for example. So while I doubt they'll abandon the hybrid console model, I think Nintendo cannot help but continue to make sweeping innovations, even at great risk of comparative failure. Sure, the Wii U was a flop. But Nintendo has been at the forefront of gaming for a long time in different ways. They invented the d-pad. They invented the thumb stick. They originated the classic 2-button and modern 4-button right thumb layout, as well as shoulder buttons and haptic feedback, not to mention motion controls. And while nobody really managed to compete with the DS, they did introduce wireless multiplayer (and probably handheld multiplayer in general with the GB). And now the Switch's success has inspired the likes of the Steam Deck and ROG Ally, even if they are a bit different in nature. Whatever happens, and however successful, the Switch's successor will have to change the game (literally and figuratively).

It's not about making ultra realistix games or anything like that. It's about making games that are creative and fun. This is the problem with modern gaming. It's all about tech specs. If the next gen nintendo console has the same specs as a PS4 that is way more than enough creative freedom for nintendo developers to use. I mean there is a reason minecraft is a top selling game and that isn't because you need an RTX 4080 to run it

As someone who first started my gaming adventures as a kid with the Super Nintendo , and 64 . I missed out on the GameCube era due to being obsessed with Halo at the time and my parents could only get me one console. And missing out on the Wii and WiiU era , the switch brought me back to Nintendo and I can say it’s the console that brings back the joy of gaming for me. By far my favorite console I’ve ever owned. Looking forward to the next one hopefully it is backwards compatible

2:39 that's kinda misleading, since people counts the Gameboy and Gameboy Color as the same when in reality they're different consoles, and before anyone says it, no Old 3DS and New 3DS are yes the same console, the difference comes in the amount of games you can play on the successor that you can't on the original, on the New 3DS just 6 New 3DS games officially released on the New 3DS, while the GBC had WAY more than that, 915 total Gameboy Color only games that can't be played on the original Gameboy, as well as there not being any actual compatibility between gameboy and gameboy color, while the Old 3DS and New 3DS can perfectly connect with each other

Still it hasn't beaten the length the NES, (9 years) Gameboy, (9 years, or 13 if you count Gameboy Color) and 3DS's (over 10 years) lifespans.

I wanna preface this by saying, yes, I know there's more powerful hardware than when the Switch was made. I just don't think it's necessary to keep worrying about how long it's been since Nintendo or any other console maker for that matter going forward has released a new console. When we went from 8-bit to 16-bit gaming, there was a noticeable massive jump forward. When we went from 16-bit to 3D graphics with the N64 and Ps1, there was a massive jump forward. When the visual fidelity kept increasing up to 4K resolutions and stunning light shading etc. there was a massive jump forward. But here's the thing. There aren't many massive jumps left to take anymore. We have massive storage size, massive amounts of computing power and massive amounts of graphics processing power. I'd say if we see the Switch 2 release with a 4k docked mode, there will only be one more generation even necessary after that, and that's to get a 4k handheld and docked console. The days of 6 year release windows are dead and gone. At some point the law of diminishing returns hits and we have to be realistic about this. The money was and always will be in the SOFTWARE. As long as Nintendo can build a 4k console, you probably won't see them trying to release a new console on their traditional 6 year cycle ever again.

I really don't think that Nintendo can ever create a council more innovative than this one. Part of the reason why the switch is doing as well as it ISIS because it's a hybrid console. Regardless of what they try to cook up next, I don't think anything will ever compare to this. It just seems unimaginable that anything could ever beat what the Nintendo switch is. If people don't believe me I challenge you to answer this question for me: How do you make a more innovative piece of technology than a hybrid gaming console?

Yeah, you made a good choice. Even if the Switch 2 releases within a year, there’s already a MASSIVE game library, not to mention the countless games that’ll release after. The switch sold so well, Nintendo will no doubt support it until it’s physically impossible.
