For those unaware, Nintendo EPD has a team entirely dedicated to making casual-focused games, I believe it’s EPD Group 4 or 5. They’re responsible for 1-2 Switch, Nintendo Labo, Ring Fit Adventure, Nintendo Switch Sports, Big Brain Academy: Brain vs. Brain, and collaborated with NdCube on Clubhouse Games and Everybody 1-2 Switch. I think it’s nice Nintendo has a team solely dedicated to these types of games while not taking any resources away from their core experiences.

It's a huge market. Casual games sell extremely well and are so cheap to make, they'd be stupid not to cater to it. The problem comes from going so hard after it that it ends up hurting the reputation of your console. Things like the switch, ds, 3ds had the right balance. The Wii I think was hurt by the power and control scheme issues that the third parties, unable to just throw their hardcore/normal multiplat games on it, decided to just flood it with way too much of casual stuff instead.

My senior year of high school, we did a weekend overnight trip to this nice resort in the mountains. It was honestly really nice, we all got to hang out as friends one last time before college. I remember we tried to watch the Wolf of Wall Street on Cable and the entire TV was blurred for like an entire minute, so we switched to Family Feud and the question was "name a cereal that works as a double entendre" and we all had a laugh at how weird that was. Anyway, this was Spring 2018 so a few people brought their Switches, but there weren't many multiplayer games beyond like, Mario Kart and Pokken Tournament so we also were playing PC games and mobile games and stuff. Anyway the reason I bring this up is because in the dinner hall, there was a massive projector and a dance floor, and the first night, someone put Just Dance for Wii on the projector. And even though there were only 4 Wii remotes, like 30 people ran down to participate in Just Dance. I bring this up as a way to say that like, I can imagine if they had Jackbox or Everybody 1-2-Switch on the TV, maybe we could get 100 people to join on their phones. But that very specifically has to be a scenario where there's 200 teenagers away from home, on vacation, and about to graduate high school. Like they need to be in this mindset of "I'm on top of the world, let's have some dumb fun" and it helps if they're young enough that they're not worried about rent or their kids or anything like that.

One huge problem with Labo is that there's no easy way to take the creations apart. Once built, they take up far too much room. I ended up getting rid of mine due to needing the space. Also, I'm baffled that the Switch Fit Ring hasn't been used as an alternate control method in other games. Mario Kart where you have to hold it in to accelerate would be amusing.

I really suggest playing Nintendo Labo kits 3 and 4. The VR kit is kinda a "jack of all trades" thing like the Variety kit but way better at being a master of some.
