Kinda underselling Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe, as it does way more than just HD graphics (new mode with a unique character, new and remade minigames with missions and unlockable cosmetics, new abilities and challenges for them, updated boss rush, etc.) Also, they kept the Wii in the Japanese title (originally Kirby's Adventure Wii), so it's Kirby's Adventure Wii Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch.

With Kirby specifically, "Deluxe" is a series precedent. Much like how the localized English titles don't distinguish between mainline Kirby games (Hoshi no Kirby; "Kirby of the Stars") and spin-offs (just "Kirby" somewhere in the title) as is done in Japanese, the subtitles themselves were often changed. Case in point: Kirby of the Stars: Super Deluxe > Kirby Super Star Kirby of the Stars: Fountain of Dreams Deluxe > Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland Kirby of the Stars: Ultra Super Deluxe > Kirby: Super Star Ultra Kirby of the Stars: Triple Deluxe > Kirby: Triple Deluxe Kirby Battle Deluxe! > Kirby Battle Royale Kirby of the Stars: Wii Deluxe > Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe Only twice have they carried over the Deluxe in a title. This naming scheme may have also influenced Masahiro Sakurai when naming Melee, which in Japanese is called Battle Royal Smash Bros. DX (read as Deluxe instead of Dee-Ecks).

Kirby and the word "deluxe" have a history with its remakes in japan, Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland was called Hoshi no Kabi: Yume no Izumi DELUXE in japan. Super Star already had "deluxe" in the title as it was called Hoshi no Kirby Super DELUXE, so they added "Ultra" instead, and finally Return to Dreamland Deluxe keeps the tradition with Hoshi no Kirby Wii DELUXE. Just a little quirk the localization never took notice of until the latest game

The reason most likely behind naming Pokemon Rescue Team DX is because its a remake combining both Red Rescue Team from the GBA and Blue Rescue Team from the DS. I believe the differences between the two were primarily a few different Pokemon exclusive to one over the other which explains the DX naming, its a combination and definitive version of the original two games, keeping all content in one single version.

As a former sonic adventure dx kid i cant associate dx with anything other than "directors cut" since thats how the sonic adventure 1 rerelease was titled back in the day Like, hearing dx as a shortening of "deluxe" makes sense, but directors cut always sticks out more to me
