The C button might be for a chat/online style features like miiverse. And this would be a shortcut to open this whilst in a game for example.

I think the extra buttons are how you remove the Joy-cons. The magnets would need to be strong if that's how it's attached. The buttons probably allow you to disconnect the joy-cons

OLED doesn’t “brighten the colors”. It increases the contrast by darkening the black levels to true black. OLEDs actually are dimmer in most cases. They just look so much better because of the contrast.

This is both true and untrue. You’re 100% correct that up until very recently, LCD displays had brighter output. So “brighten the colors” would indeed be an incorrect statement for you to point out. But current OLED panels output competitively bright nit measurements and now often outperform and have higher brightness than the cheaper LCDs used in similar devices to cut production cost. So brightness war now generally goes to LED displays on similar devices since they more often outperform LCD in that use case. However you also said “It (OLED) increases the contrast by darkening the black levels…”, and it’s actually the other way around. The higher contrast nature of the technology leads to deeper black levels. They don’t darken black levels to achieve higher contrast. The improved black levels are a result of the higher contrast tech. Also, while OLED does not brighten color, which you pointed out, it does display much higher vibrancy and saturation, often leading users to experience a more color rich experience compared to the more dull saturations of LCD. This is why the Switch OLED has much nicer color vibrancy and zero light bleed compared to the original model. I own both. It’s night and day. The OLED doesn’t feel that bright up until the last quarter or so of total brightness when adjusting, but at max brightness is brighter than my LCD version at same setting, all while still having near perfect black levels. I do think LCD displays handle natural sunlight outdoors on a sunny day better than OLED though. Even with better brightness, the way the LCD utilized a backlight seems to better handle direct sunlight than individually lit LEDs in the OLED layers.

The best suggestion I've heard is that the extra button on the back is used to release the joycons because they are magnetically attached.

My theory is that the C button recenters the gyroscopes or… “(c)alibrates” them. It’d make a lot more sense to have a dedicated button for that rather than sacrificing the bumpers or whatever. With that being said, I’ve given up hope on Nintendo releasing anything ever again.

I always thought since the first mockup that the buttons are to release the joycons. It probably physically pops them out with a mechanical mechanism. Like the existing release buttons but those were prone to be faulty. If you look closely there is a little nub at the top near those buttons that would push the joycon out from it's locked position.

Someone has forgotten that the switch 2 was rumored to be called the connect. The C could easily be connect. I would love to see a data card slot for on-the-go gaming without having to tether to a phone Wi-Fi spot. Just give us a spot for an actual SIM card. But that would be too much of a thing the player base would want. So Nintendo is absolutely not doing that
