The ink stuff is probably just glittery ink, in splatoon 3 side order the ink had glitter in it so they may just now be patterneding the ink with stuff in it

The stuff regarding ink definitely could be used again, but this patent is obviously about side order [includes the process for selecting equip chips, assigning colors and patterns to each set of chips, and how the color and pattern of your inked area will depend on your primary and secondary chips]

So the splatoon patent seems like one for side order. In side order, you collect “equipment chips” to upgrade your character as you progress through stages. There are many categories of chips such as weapon upgrades and movement upgrades, and each category has an associated color and design. When you have multiple chips of the same category, your ink changes into the color of the chip and has the design imprinted onto it. When reading through the coding section it’s simply the process for the game to determine which chip the player has the most of, load all of objects and determine which ones have paint on them, then render the design and color into the ink. However the vr part, I don’t know.

Hopefully the joycon drift problem is completely gone for NS2. Also, I like everything I am seeing on the patents. Then I don't mind an LCD screen rather than OLED screen. Lastly, if & when Splatoon 4 comes out great.

Splatoon is one of my favorite Nintendo games. VR Splatoon sounds absolutely amazing if they could pull it off. But it does spawn in a lot of questions. For instance would VR disrupt the flow and speed of the game, would they have to have a separate VR portal or menu selection. You think as a squid or an octopus when you go into your ink, how would that play out exactly? By the way I think I know what those shapes are in the ink, Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3 during splatfests would have pictures and glitter and things that would show up in the as you inked the playing field, sometimes a message would show up on the wall very cool stuff. Maybe it will become more prominent, It sounds like they just wanted to patent the idea. I'm happy to hear about Splatoon 4 and if it launched with the system, oh boy I'm all in day one.

I hope it's the size of the Wii nunchuk stick just shorter because the current switch joysticks are so small that it's hard to play with them Also the joycons being bigger would solve the problem of my thumb hitting the right stick every time I press a,b,x, or y

Wow. That analog stick design seems like pretty awesome idea! Just based on the design mechanics alone; that could really eliminated joycon drift as pressing down on the analog sticks as they have been for years; definitely add to drift deterioration! If they are also hall effect then I think that would completely eliminate any possiblity of drift as a whole, but hall effect sticks are not as flexible as the standard joycons, so this may be the best solution. As far as the screen; more than anyting (even OLED) I would hope it has a higher PPI (pixel density) as this is what makes pixels and images look that much better. The Switch lite has an even higher PPI than the OLED and honestly I think that it looks better (outside of being a smaller screen). Having a good quality 1080p screen with a high PPI; would be better than the current OLED for sure.

I’m loving this joystick paten and hope it comes to fruition. I think the switch joysticks are just a bit to flimsy for FPS and other style games. Love to see a bigger base to the joystick.

We’re gonna need that lot no matter how much you like it or not as it’s been 7 years since the current Switch, 2 years since Splatoon 3, 10 years since Smash 4 and 20 years since the DS and SM64DS. I can’t believe it’s been that long already!
