That's standard affair for any Nintendo device tbh. This OLED screen doesn't sound particularly cutting edge either since 500 nits or more brightness is standard at this point for mid-range smartphones with much higher resolution (it is more difficult for higher density screens to get bright). My biggest issue with the Switch screen was outdoor visibility and that doesn't seem to be adressed whatsoever here with 340 nits max brightness OLED Switch.

But pulled the trigger when the switch Oled TOTK version came out and now I actually prefer to play the switch Oled over my lg Oled because the switch Oled great size and weight for my casual gaming while working. The OLED panel here has a PPI of about 209.8. That is downright abominable, made only worse by the fact that OLED panels use a Pentile Matrix configuration for pixels, RGBG, rather than traditional RGB found in LCDs. This naturally means OLEDs aren't as sharp as LCDs at the same given "resolution". I can't imagine how someone wouldn't notice the pixels on a display this size held at most at arms length. Also, unless you love HUD elements burning into a display (technically pixels burned out), OLED is a bad choice for serious gaming.
@-kona-3 жыл бұрын
07:33 I don't know if you meant it like that, but it sound like you see it as a negative thing that the LCD has a red tint. The opposite is the case as you can see with your dE. The red helps the LCD to achieve a more neutral whitepoint. I am not able to see the color temperature, but I would guess that the OLED has a cooler temperature. Just my 2 cents. Otherwise great review as always.

It's definitely not enough. It's not like OLED is anything new either. We've had OLED/AMOLED phones for years and even budget phones have them these days, not to mention the original Vita model also had it. I really wish they would release some sort of pro model with the new tegra chip, but they probably won't because it will sell millions no matter what, they could release a 240p handheld again and noone would complain. I will probably keep emulating Switch games for now, it's not perfect, but i can at least play most of them at 1440p 60 at this point even the ones usually locked to 30. The 3DS had 240p and the next console they did had a 480p screen (Wii U) and the Switch in 2017 with 720p. Look at Valve's Deck with hardware being close to 1000$ being sold at 400$ and they still only gave it a 800p screen. Imagine thinking they would do another handheld and give it 240p screen (why did they even bother with 240p for the 3DS, why didn't they just go again with 192p like the Nintendo DS?) and then thinking NO ONE would complain...

Was thinking of getting the Switch for the missus, but the original console being over 4 years old already, I just cant justify of buying it if/when a Pro version is around the corner (hopefully next year).

Turok 2 would look fantastic on the OLED Switch

Here's the thing, it may be "the premium model you always wanted," but you receive these things from Nintendo for free to review. The rest of us would have to buy it twice just to get the model that should have been available at launch. And you will toadie Nintendo by claiming "they've always done that going back to the Gameboy." And it was disgusting and shameful then. Nintendo will only get my money again for something that can run BotW in 60fps. Nothing less. They're just seeing who will buy this garbage.

Stick with you'r current Switch, MOD it so you can dump your own Games, and use a SteamDeck or PC for Playing it.

@Dr. Hibbs He actually means that its too much for a Hardware based on an SoC built in END 2014 and Downgraded for the Switch in 2016/2017.

I honestly don't say this about you guys, but this seriously seems like it's either biased or paid. You are making this seem like a day and night difference when it is absolutely not. It's a difference, sure but it's not a big upgrade like you are making it out to be. This review just seems artificial in nature.

I love how creative and elaborate youtubers can be, when they are trying to sell you a similar product to the one you already have!!

Surely it would make more sense to put the OLED screen on the Switch Lite? I only use my lite for handheld, my OG Switch is really too big for extended handheld play and stays docked.

I've never been so unimpressed with a console refresh. Nintendo fans should feel insulted.
