This is literally the CLOSEST video I could find that resembles a brand new NES unboxing. And Even though this system is not essentially brand new, as you said, it is still nice seeing everything in it's original packaging, thanks man!

I remember my father had this console when I was 5 or 6 years old when me and my brother moved in with my father. He had Mario, Zelda, Ice climber and Metroid for games. I couldn’t understand the concept of The legend of Zelda cause I was only a young kid at that time. Super Mario bros was a fun game to play and it still is.

The manga looks great! The characters have more than a passing resemblance to Akira Toriyama's Dr.Slump manga and anime which were VERY popular in Japan at the time of it's release. It amazing how well you you've kept all of these boxes. I wish I had kept mine. Now I need to get a Famicom console (and a Super Famicom box). LOL At least Hudson released the more comfortable Famicom controllers over here as the Sansui Joycard. Great video as always!

To think, if not for the 1983 U.S. video game crash, we'd have gotten this instead of the NES. Even with all the differences, I don't know if it would have sold very well. The marketing of the NES as an "entertainment system" is what helped secure its longevity...and to this day, I think it still holds the record for the longest life of a console. The last official stateside game for the NES was made in 1995, while the last overseas game was done in 2003.

Atari didn't flood the market with poor video games in 1983, third party companies did. They quickly slapped together games in hopes of getting as much cash as they could as fast as they could. Atari had no control over this which is why Nintendo developed the "seal of quality" and were tough with publishing rights for third parties in regards to how many games they could publish for the system over a given period of time.
@PinoyBowlerGS92
@PinoyBowlerGS92 4 жыл бұрын
Also Atari was totally dumb of wanting to be one of the 3rd Party Licensee for Nintendo, they said they created the video game market but Nintendo still requires limited games a year, even Atari cannot handle a bunch of crappy games, they didn’t even learn their lesson about Quality Control of handling their own system or making games for other systems, remember life is not all about freedom. Atari made Tengen and they developed Unlicensed Games which is unnecessary, but their games were good but other Unlicensed Games like Bible Games which were crap, it’s like the Video Game Crash again but tiny. I know it’s Jesus Christ and you gotta respect the religion but Nintendo could’ve just refuse those games from ever release.

The NES set we had was a 1990, updated packaging with the red band across the top of the box, that reads "Nintendo Entertainment System" and the box has a black and blue, spacey theme. It was called the "Action Set" and it came with the system, two controllers, orange zapper and the two in one Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt. I have seen the same one in a similar packaging that his has in this video, but the biggest differences, that I can see, are the color of the zapper and the label for the game, the red Nintendo logo separates the Mario and Duck picture. I wonder if there is a rarity difference between these things? The gray and orange zappers, the red Nintendo Entertainment System vs. the older packaging and the separate Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt vs. the combo Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt game.

Correction! The Control Deck (1985) came before the Deluxe Set (1986)!
@phillipmennor2585
@phillipmennor2585 6 жыл бұрын
Actually the Deluxe Set came out first for the test markets Nintendo conducted in New York in October of 85 and in LA in early 86, however it wasn't called the Deluxe Set. That was the only configuration they offered for the test markets. When they launched nationwide in September of 86, the renamed it the Deluxe Set and released the Control Deck alongside it as another option.

Funny thing about this: When I was 11, I had and still have the exact Super Mario Bros. CIB with the oval nintendo seal of quality and the hangtab on the back, in good condition. And because I saw this video and you mentioning that you ripped the hangtab out, I did the same. Which was something so dumb and stupid knowing now, that hangtab boxes aren't the most uncommon but extremely high in demand. I was a strange kid, SMH. I'm glad I grew up and matured.. : ]

You can play famicom games in a NES by using an adapter. The difference between a nes and famicom board is that the NES version have extra pins for the region lock chip and lacks connectors for sound expantion. In fact, some early official NES cartridges contained the japanese board of the game with a built-in passive adaptor with the region lock chip. I think you can also play NES games in a famicom with some other adapter.

I have a couple of questions... 1. Does the Famicom have a cartridge-locking mechanism? Early SNES systems had a locking mechanism and cartridges after some time in '93 were designed to defeat it (actually, they would push the power button to the off position if you pulled the cartridge out). 2. What are those knob-looking things on the Famicom RF switch?

question, recently while rewiring my games set, i was wondering why the nes power cord and av cables are so long, literally, i could play hangman with the nes ac adaptor through the window 8 feet away, i think it was because they thought they were going to do it like the famicom, where you play with it on your lap or something, yet all the nes ads have the system on the television set, do you think this is correct?

Eventually, it was re-released as the Master System with the overseas color scheme and has built-in FM sound, making it quite a collector's item today as the Japanese versions can also play Sega's previous/first console, the SG-1000, and that it didn't sell well in Japan.

A guy on YT found a box of FC stuff. The FC had composite AV. Probably Korean. Title: "Unexpected Curbside Pickup" You probably know: The model-2 "top-loader" NES lost AV ports. FC toploader ("Famicom AV") had them. A design flaw in the RF-only toploader produced horrible RF output (far worse than original NES). Mine is even worse than others I've seen. I *really* want the US top loader variant w/ SNES-style multi-out connector. Probably only a handful of refurbs had it.
