online play is so convoluted on this game it's exhausting

As someone who has worked on application design with server networking considerations, it’s absolutely insane and lazy as could have been done. For example, the island might be stored server side already (due to either the island backup, or dream land), yet the game was never coded to allow players to download that version of the island which is already stored server side. Of course the best option is to halt EVERYONE and wait for the island to be transferred P2P 🙄

It needs a big update if they ever want even 10% of the owners to return to this game

Great game for switching your brain off but not so great that i would play it years on end.
