If that same binder was sitting out on a table at some random garage sale, I guarantee that pretty much all casual collectors and even a lot of hardcore collectors would likely not give that binder much of a second glance. Heck, even I would have likely assumed a bunch of those disks were worthless PC disks, burned copies or pirated. We're just hardwired to keep our eyes tried for the company logos, ESRB ratings, etc. Just goes to show just sharp you need to be to catch the special gems.

I would like to see the Dolphin Emulator Disc! I never knew there was an official Nintendo Dolphin Emulator.
@Johncw8710 күн бұрын
You will be massively disappointed. It's not an emulator in the common sense of the word. You can't plug a retail game into it and expect it to work. All it does is implement SOME of the GC SDK functions on Windows, so you can compile it and run it on Windows. Notably, the GX library isn't included, so you still have to create an OpenGL renderer for the game to actually use it.
@Gerenocidiac26 күн бұрын

I need to see that old emulator running! Please try using some of the software on those discs!
@Johncw8710 күн бұрын
Nintendo's use of "emulator" in this software does not match the common understanding of emulator. It's just a set of libraries that implement SOME of the gamecube SDK on Windows, to assist with compiling and testing the game on a desktop computer while developing it. Notably, it does not include the GX library, so developers still had to write an OpenGL renderer for their game in order to use it.

I remember ages ago Chishm, of GBA homebrew scene fame who wrote the DS homebrew loader for GBAMP, had a private version that could boot some commercial games. He did a bit of trolling in the GBA communities under a pseudonym showing off his rom loader playing Metroid Prime Hunters. It's what's alluded to in his ndsmp changelog "v2.10 Private version - super hidden secret function". I threw up the latest version of the video converter for it (1.60 crystal) on archive years ago. Watching Robot Chicken on the go at 10fps was my teenage years.
