I love the little details like Octavio’s music sounding a little off-key because of how many times his old flying mech has taken a beating. It’s become rickety in its movements and can no longer stay flying as long as before, so Octavio had to include legs to make up for it. From the design, to the sound, and even its movements, the Splatoon team spared no cost. In making Octavio the best first boss of the game!

So yesterday I beat Hero Mode and here’s what I found out: Before beating Hero Mode, when you first enter Mr. Grizz’s place; you are greeted by a wooden bear statue holding a fish(salmon) in its mouth like in the previous game. But, when you return to Grizz’s place after finishing Hero Mode; you’ll see that the original statute is replaced with a statue of a big salmon munching on a bear. Not only is this a really clever easter egg; but it comes to show that the Salmons have finally got their revenge on the egg poacher that is Grizz (a reference that bears are the predators of salmons).

I love the attention to details that the team did, for the DJ, his Octobot's been beaten severely twice, and it can't fly no more, so he added legs to support the mech, and his gear being a hard hat, with a camera and light, it looks like the DJ's been excavating, looking for his troops, while for Fyre, her weapon is literaly a leg less Octostomp, with her being in the tentacle's previous location. And Big Man's fight is just a cool reference and call back to Phantamanta from Super Mario Sunshine, and I love the part that the DJ came back to help in the end.

I like how each boss does something you would be able to see during PvP and Salmon Run. Master Mega's bomb weakness, the Killer Wail callout of Mr Grizz, DJ Octavio's Ink Vac. Really shows they stuck to using Story Mode as an engaging way to do a tutorial.

For those that don't know, you can stun Master Mega when he charges at you with his mouth open/after he finishes his ink beam attack by lobbing a bomb in his mouth. Didn't know you could attack him while he's cycling the arena tho. When I saw him I immediately thought of Maws from salmon run.

Whoa, don't get ahead of yourself. The 3rd game just released. DLC hasn't even been announced yet. But I guess that would be a good idea. I like splatoon, so I hope the community never dies out. But at the same time, maybe they could make a dlc where you have to escape space and travel to different planets and fight space ink monsters to make your way back to splatsville or something. I think that the final boss showed us clearly that splatoon could work in space, so that's my idea. Also if a Splatoon 4 never comes, i think maybe they should port Splatoon 1 over to switch? After all, it's an amazing game, and it contains post game and amiibo content, just like the switch games do. And since fans won't be able to buy it come March 2023, I think Splatoon is a must-have for any nintendo fan, and the squid sisters have amazing music. And in my opinion, they are way better than pearl and marina. #KeepSplatoonAlive

I'm wondering how the DLC will go. Splatoon 2 default started with stopping Octavio's usual tricks, while the DLC culminated in stopping all of Inkopolis from being destroyed. Meanwhile 3's story not only takes on the Octo Expansion gameplay style, but involves stopping what I'm sure can be considered a bioweapon from being unleashed on the entire world. How does Nintendo plan to top that? I know they will, they've always topped what looks like their best work. Also for future Splatoon installments, I want them to keep the whole thing of having a series of stages to go through before facing the final boss like Octo Expansion and 3 did.

i hope the dlc for this game shows us DJ Octavio's progress to his new mech. he just pops out of nowhere predictably in the final fight, but it was nice to see him as the first boss as it gave me a lot of hope for the new enemies we face.

Lemme review each boss - DJ Octavio (World 1) I'd say it's a good intro boss, and a great redemption for Splatoon 2's final boss fight being the easiest you could possibly imagine. Frye (World 3) Octostomp's dead and Thailand dancer squid is nesting her eels there It's neat that the attack cycles are random, and the knockback system as a whole. Shiver (World 5) Shark says the N-Word FOR REAL??? (HE CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS) The fact that you can make him eat bombs is a neat callback to Octomaw and the Maws salmonids, but during the first time I really thought this was the only way to attack him, I didn't know you could hit him in the water. Big Man (World 7) Phantamanta? Mario Canon in Splatoon?? I'd say where the difficulty truly shines is in Phase 3, with the absolute bombarding of Torpedoes. It's good they saved him for last, because even after replaying the other Deep Cut bosses, I can say he was still kinda challenging. Mr. Grizz (World 8) Remember when we thought it wasn't him when Salmon Run was revealed and it turned out it was him? The first half of the fight feels good, but the second half feels even better... to complete. And we haven't seen DJ Octavio since World 1, so this final boss feels great! Splatoon 3 - Same amount of bosses, but they actually put 8 Worlds in it this time instead of a measly 5.

I like this. The fact that the models are also bossfights you have to beat in order to beat storymode. Very cool twist. I thought the models was possessed cause of the masks they had. Gave me forgotten land dedede vibes. And Mr. Grizz! I didnt think Mr. Grizz would be the final boss. LOL im definitely buying splatoon 3. Fun Fact: I had a dream on splatoon 3 before it came out. It felt weird. thats all i can say :)

I feel like alot of people miss this but if you unlock the targeting module in the equipment tree before you take on Big Man the targeter will tell you which manta ray is the real big man having a red target instead of the others which will have yellow targets

I'm not so sure. We know at the start of this story the great zapfish and Octavio's army went missing. We also know if the world gets destroyed that is bad for both us and the octarians. He hasn't changed but it was on his best interests to save the world and rescue his own people.

@Josh Achu I know. I thought he was best to be the antagonist of splatoon. Especially because it was always Inklings vs. Octarians. But according to the Splatoon story of old, DJ Octavio once was friendly with cuttlefish and the inklings, but the peace was broken over losing turf wars. That being the case, I'm sure he would have turned a new leaf eventually, just as bowser has become nice in recent mario games. Also, in this game, Octavio only attacks you because he thinks you made his octarian army vanish. Which I suppose you did the past 2 games, but he had no idea who the real antagonist was. I think personally that the captain and octavio getting together again is the proper way to send him off.
