It was IMO Nintendo's best system until the Switch, and the Switch has only just barely surpassed it. It was WAY ahead of its time. It supported full digital out in 2001, a full generation before any other systems did. Nintendo never used the digital out (and eventually removed the port on newer models), but starting in 2017, GC Video was created and fans started making HDMI adapters for the digital port. insurrectionindustries.com/product/carby-v2/ is the best of them. It lets you use the Gamecube on modern displays without resorting to hardware modification like you have to do on older systems. I wouldn't be able to use a Gamecube without this, as my A/V setup and monitor only supports HDMI and DisplayPort, no analog audio or video.

These deals simply do not exist in my area. I go on Facebook and Craigslist everyday and IF there are any GameCube games, they are priced individually and are near price chart price. The only way you can get deals here is yard sales/garage sales and even then, you’ll likely need to do “an ask” because if it’s out on the lawn, it’ll be gone before the sale has even started. But happy for you who live in areas where this stuff still happens. For me, it’s all about emulation. Screw spending hours and hours hunting and paying someone money for a game that none of the proceeds go to the game companies.

This method is exactly how I collect vintage Masters of the Universe toys. It started two years ago when I found and bought a local listing of a guy selling a tote full of 1980s action figures for $240. Unbeknownst to him and me there were a lot of rare figures in the lot worth over $100 each. After totaling everything up I found that I had approximately $2k worth of toys and accessories. Since then I've found multiple local listings that I have been able to buy, fished out the figures I wanted to keep and sold the rest. With every lot purchased I allow my 10 year old son to pick out a figure or two to keep for his own collection and it has since turned into a secondary source of income since I don't find it necessary to keep a large collection. I'm always polite and honest when I communicate with people selling their collections and I even bring my son along on occasion because people love to see younger generations geek out over toys they used to geek out over. All it takes is one good purchase and the rest falls into place.

My experience trying to buy just software discs/cartridges and manuals separately is that the prices of the two items separately is often way more than if someone puts up a copy of the game and the manual together on an online seller. Manuals are treated usually as free throw-ins with their original game if the seller casually happens to have it. People who sell manuals independently see that only collectors or people like myself who actually like the old manuals that went with games are interested in them, as so offer them at silly higher prices, often with additional shipping charges.
