Though it garners quite a number of sneers from genre snobs, and despite not being quite as well written as KQ6, it does quite a credible job of keeping up the series' tradition of marrying cutting edge tech with fairy tale stories driven by (generally) logical puzzles. If you like graphic adventures, this is a landmark title for the genre, and it's quite a good one.

I remember playing this a bit as a kid. I don't think I had much patience for point-and-click adventure games then, still preferring my Marios and whatnot, but I still figured some things out. I do remember thinking the animated cutscenes were pretty impressive and Disney-like back then, but, uh... not so much now.

ooga booga was my favorite as a child, and i still love it so much - the limericks on the epitaphs, the big black dog and the witty cat, the overall purple-ish colour scheme... the not so slight hint of the macabre... and especially that pumpkin tree house. oh how i wanted one myself lol. silly really.

It was an amazing time in my life. There wasn’t much on the Internet...Compuserve mostly. Lots on online live chat in Seattle. I was looking around in electronica bulletin board and just stuck a one line ad that said writer looking for work. Did it just for fun because it was a bulletin board for software and hardware. Couple weeks later I got a call from the systems operator. He said he got a response on the bulletin board from John Williams of Sierra Online. I told him I didn’t know anything about computers. “Are you funny?” he said. “Yeah. “Do you have an attitude?” “Yeah.” I sent him some funny stuff via FedEx. He hired me for four weeks for $1150 a week… That was 1995 money. Today it’s a lot more. For an option for a fifth week. I was for one addition of Interaction Magazine. After three or four weeks he called me back for a second edition. I got to do my own screenshots on their Macintosh. It was a ball. We worked pretty hard from 10 AM till four in the morning but had about four hours for lunch and dinner. I didn’t drink so I made the beer runs. There were just four of us in the office putting this magazine together. Ken Williams’s brother John, a designer named Tim Fruehe, and graphics artist intern named Skye, and me.

Activision is going to release King's Quest 8: Return to Paradise which is the 8th entity in the KQ series. In King's Quest 8: Return to Paradise, the people of a far away land argue during a battle against a reigning kingdom in which the evil fairy (from King's Quest 7) had laid siege, turning the reigning kingdoms' princesses to stone. A reigning queen, however, joins forces with a few thieves to defeat the wicked fairy (who had killed her beloved princess Rosella).

@NintendoComplete7 жыл бұрын
Oswald Epic Loquendero They criticize the graphics even though this was a really impressive game when it was new, and the game is one of the most linear of the game. I think what probably hurts it the most is that it came after KQ6, so people had impossibly high expectations for it. Back then though it reviewed well and people loved it. I remember seeing it being used as a demo to sell computers at some local stores around 1994. This and the Sierra version of Lode Runner :)
@OswaldMiyake357 жыл бұрын
Sierra did their version of Lode Runner?
@NintendoComplete7 жыл бұрын
Oswald Epic Loquendero And it's nowhere near the worst one. I'd give 3 that honor, or 1. Of course, as much as I love KQ5, its puzzles got pretty damned unfair and it loved dead-ends that forced you to restart. This one's def the easiest KQ game, but the plot is more complex and more interesting than any of the early ones
@NintendoComplete7 жыл бұрын

MrTuco40 You know, for as simple as it looks with the simpler interface, it's not that easy. The puzzles are logical, but some of them really make you think hard. It's definitely easier than VI, but as a kid it took me awhile to get through.
