A playthough of Konami's 1993 license-based platformer for the Super Nintendo, Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose.
Played through on the "challenge" difficulty mode.
Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster Busts Loose was one of several games Konami created based on the popular cartoon franchise, and it was very well received - so well, in fact, that Nintendo Power magazine awarded it the cover story of the March 1993 issue.
The game is a fairly standard action-platformer with a few neat wrinkles to keep things interesting. Buster can blaze around stages, sometimes at near-Sonic speeds, as long as his dash gauge is charged. While dashing, he can also scale sheer vertical surfaces, which comes in handy for finding hidden power-ups and allowing for last minute saves after mistimed jumps.
The stages have a surprising amount of variety to them (I absolutely loved the football stage!), and the bosses are pretty creatively designed - fights like the one where you have to feed Dizzy Devil until he passes out make for a big step up from bosses in the earlier Tiny Toon games.
The graphics and sound are classic Konami all the way - the tunes are catchy and energetic, and the game pairs some excellent sprite-work with regular use of mode 7 effects for things like sprite rotation and scaling. As they did in Turtles in Time and The Legend of the Mystical Ninja, Konami's attention to detail manages to stitch the presentation together in a way that elevates the experience well beyond that of the typical SNES platformer. Despite the limitations of the SNES hardware, Buster Busts Loose effectively brings the cartoon to life.
It's not a long or difficult game (I remember beating it on the hardest difficulty level over a weekend rental when it first came out, and I was only ten), but it really has stuck with me over the years. If you can appreciate a good license-based game, Buster Busts Loose is certainly one of the better ones that you'll find on the SNES.
If you're interested, you can also find my video of the excellent follow-up game, Wacky Sports Challenge, here: • Tiny Toon Adventures: ...
And here is Buster's Hidden Treasure for the Genesis:

My dad would often take me every other weekends in the 90s to video rentals. Games were available as well. Tried THIS game a couple of times and I couldn't make it past the 2nd level! Lol. I could barely make it past the first level with dizzy! My English was VERY LIMITED at the time. Born in Los Angeles to parents from Jalisco, 🇲🇽 . So I spent a good amount of time stomping dizzy....and ACCIDENTALLY feeding him sometimes. I would have saved myself 40 minutes on the first level!! That plus Donkey Kong Country was just released when I tried this game and it was so much easier.....plus MORE COOL. My dad was barely able to afford a game system for us. He was barely making ends meet at the time. For my mother, sister, and a brother. And....the only reason he ever got a game system was because he HIMSELF, wanted to play Ken Griffey Jr presents Major League Baseball!!! Lol. He was in his 20s at the time (Parents were born in 1969 , 1970. I came into this world in 1989, then my siblings 1992, 1993) And I remember seeing him play every once in while when he would come from work. He couldn't afford to get us ALL or a good amount of games , so he would take us to Blockbuster. It would be for my birthdays or Christmas that he would buy a game for me as a gift. Or....I would also go to our neighbors' homes in the apartment complexes we lived in(we moved at least 4 times) to play with the kid neighbors!! Also borrow/ exchange games with classmates in elementary school for the weekend or a week. Or visit them Friday after school to play with them. And finally, family friends' kid's birthday parties......there would a be a group of kids in the garage or in a room playing!!! Good times 😥 😢 😭 90s

Honestly, the best game made off of the cartoon, in my opinion. Being a huge fan of the show back in the day, this was everything I could have wanted in a Tiny Toon game. Lots of characters and references from the show, graphics that looked about as close to the show as possible at the time, and just a real understanding of the franchise. You can tell Konami put a lot of effort behind this one.

Konami did an excellent job with this game. I really enjoyed it as a kid. It's nice to know that I wasn't alone when it came to the first stage Dizzy boss...I thought I was doing something wrong. I feel that the game was meant for teenagers and up given the difficulty. I'm glad they had the EASY option, but a LOT of stages and portions of stages were omitted, and the game punished you by not giving you the proper ending for it. The bonus games, especially the Bingo and Weight games were fun as hell, too! I still enjoy them, and I'm 39!

Great game; LOVE Tiny Toons, and Konami did such an amazing job with _all_ of these games. The company was practically second-to-none in capturing the personality of each license and making a great game out of them. I remember this one particularly fondly. Great music, and the brilliant use of Buster Bunny's Dash feature, particularly in the epic train level. But the *football game* is what I'm _mainly_ here for. Score a TOUCHDOWN for Acme Looniversity!!!

I was just a little kid as well at the time and just didn't understand the level. I didn't really know much about Star Wars, so I didn't know this was space. I thought it was some Earth level taking place at night. And I thought the lasers were lightning bolts that sometimes hurt me and sometimes didn't. I looked this up to see what the deal was with that level now that I know things. Now it all makes sense to me why the "lightning" hurt me.
