Talk about obscure! This is a pretty neat ninja light-gun shooter, complete with Nazi's, tanks, Roman soldiers in the old West, and first-person knife fights. It's pretty sweet, even if it's insanely hard at the end. I haven't seen any playthroughs on KZbin of this game, which really surprised me a lot! But anyways, here's my contribution to the void!

+NintendoComplete What else did we expect from Go Nagai, the man who gave us Cutey Honey and Mazinger Z.

+Spike Riley Exactly :) Developed by the same company that did Mazinger on the Genesis as well

I don't think it was a light gun game. I know it was compatible with the Snes mouse though.

Thanks for posting this. Had this game as a kid and didn't know the name of it. Great game and my first experience with rail shooters.

Ok, I came here to see how the game is beyond the levels that I couldn't beat, I remember this game being extremely hard as a kid, and I see now that isn't just me, the game indeed IS hard. Nice video and skills! :D

Oh yeah, no doubt it's a super hard game. Thanks!

One of my friends had a copy of this we'd play from time to time. I always thought the kunai slashing and blocking mechanic was clever, even as a kid.

Pretty fun light shooter. Not as fun as Yoshi's Safari, of course, but still enjoyable, noneoftheless. Fighting enemies throughout history as a throwing star ninja is pretty cool.

man, the controls are pretty cool, but a bit difficult to master. anyone got any tips? Seems playing defense is vital, but if an enemy pops up and I wanna block em, I'll bring the cursor to him to block, and he'll knife attack instead, then I gotta quickly bring the cursor back to block again (or strike again lol), end up taking damage anyway. I dunno, finding it very tough to get down.

Have you tried playing it with the mouse? That might make it easier for you
@cratedivizion5 жыл бұрын
@@NintendoComplete not yet no. but do you know what I mean? you don't have to press any buttons to knife attack or block, just aim, so how do you pull off doing whichever one you're trying to do with certainty that it'll work. It's kinda driving me nuts and pushing me from trying to fight with precision to just kamakazi mode
@NintendoComplete5 жыл бұрын
@cratedivizion It takes a lot of practice, but I found the best way to block was to try to pull the knife slowly in the direction away from the attack once it is in position so that they hit the blade instead of your hand, and in the direction that gives you a biggest area to deflect with (horizontal or vertical instead diagonally). Hopefully that makes sense/helps? The knife swipes I find tend to be easier going up and down, but it's the speed and distance that you move the cursor that decides if it's a swipe or a block iirc. It's been awhile since I've played it, so I can't be 100% sure.
@cratedivizion5 жыл бұрын
@@NintendoComplete interesting. Ok. Yes I found swiping vertically was alot better too. and obviously holding the high speed button while swiping. It's just that blocking I'm having trouble with. can barely make it to the tank boss with decent health. I'm assuming if you were fast enough you could just block the entire time and not lose health. gonna just keep at it. Appreciate you replying brotha
@cratedivizion5 жыл бұрын
@@NintendoComplete ahhhhh!! I swear, if a guy pops up in the fore ground, if you cross him with the cursor it will knife swipe. Seems all you have to do is touch him with the cursor and he'll swipe. so I guess the trick may be to get close but not touch them with the cursor

I will say it's pretty bizarre how the third stage is vaguely called "20th Century France" despite there being obvious Nazis and Panzers in the streets. "1940 France" would've been much easier.

played this, SOS and Laplace No Ma... anything SNES by Vic Tokai is pretty mediocre.
@imfsresidentotaku96997 ай бұрын
No, you’re just setting your standards unreasonably high. Vic Tokai did some pretty unique and clever things with various genres on the SNES. This game is a rail shooter in which you must think carefully as to when to attack and when to defend, and SOS is a cinematic platformer in which the environment is constantly shifting, essentially making Mode 7 a gameplay mechanic. If that’s “pretty mediocre,” that’s on you for being impossible to impress.
