The boy in front of him is literally on the verge of death. So… why? Why do those arms have seemingly infinite power?

Actually, as was pointed out to me, it's an mistaken version of Archer's. Shouldn't contain the word "Infinite" even though "Made of Infinite Swords" is "Unlimited Blade Works" (My mistake) Shirou's changes are "Never once Understanding, Never Once Being Understood; Always Alone, Forging Iron on the Hill of Swords; Thus This Life Needs No Meaning" The big difference being Needs vs Has; Archer's chant asserts that his life means nothing, Shirou's asserts that his life is defined by his path.

For me Emiya Kenji Kawai ver. 2 will always be the definitive Emiya remix for the Shirou vs Archer fight. The pacing, vocals, drums, synth, and that violin interlude that was missing in the UBW Emiya, all resonate with Shirou's struggle, defiance and determination against Archer's own experience of their ideals.

I prefer it over the more thematic take Ufotable took where most of it was them standing and talking. It's one thing being thematic but it's another making it visually stimulating and entertaining otherwise might as well read the novel.

You know when you hear that specific style of choir and the continuous playing drums, its Kawai Kenji. Oh if you didn’t know, he is the legendary GOAT who did the music scores for Ghost in the shell 1995, Gundam 00, Fate stay night and the most memorable Ip-man movies. I like the second version of his Emiya theme, he added more choir and those drums keep me hyped. Also I love the chorus build up at 0:50 so much as well as at 1:20 very good improvement from the first version.

It's largely because the whole style and tone of the visual novel is different. I mean, the title screen song alone is almost like something that could even work in a Metroid game. Er no not really? DEEN got a lot of crap wrong too and rushed through the dialogue of the battle like bats out of hell. While they were too "shonen" on the battle itself, the mid-battle flashback where Shirou remembers the fire and the reason behind his borrowed ideal, was done in a much better and slower paced form in the ufotable version. And this is as important as the rest of the dialogue, since this flashback is literally the turning point that reminds Shirou WHY he decided to carry on Kiritsugu's ideal. The song chosen for the flashback in the ufotable version is also great and brings extra emotional impact. So yeah, I dare say both shows' interpretations of the battle have their upsides and downsides and it's all up to personal taste.

Not exactly. The F/SN visual novel has the incantation in Japanese and in English (the English one being the one most people are familiar with). So it's not a translation, Nasu wrote both of them and the two versions are too different to be a translation. They're used pretty much interchangeably throughout the VN. As for WHY, that I don't know. (Also, Archer and Shirou have slightly different UBW chants. This is Shirou's.)

It doesn't, read the original japanese texts, Archer's chant is missing the Kanji 無限, romanized as Mugen, translated as Infinite. Like I said, the poem of Archers life lacks the concept of infinity, since the poem is summerising a dead mans life which cannot be considered infinite. Shirou's is different because he eptimolises his life up to this *moment*, and includes the potential of moving past this *moment* with infinite possibilities.

2 sounds lighter than 1, not the actual music but the.... like bass beats, like 1s beats were a bit stronger and felt a bit uncomfortable if you listen with earphones, 2 fixed that problem. 2 has more stronger choir. The piano melody in 2 sounds different, like its played with a different type of piano. The same thing remaining between 1 and 2 is of course the Kenji style continuous playing drums that keeps me hyped all the time.

I started watching Fate/Stay night, but there are a lot of fate / x, are they related?

Fate/stay night was the first Fate/ Visual Novel game (its update is called Fate/stay night Realta Nua). Fate/Zero is its prequel and is a Light Novel (and later an anime), Fate/hollow ataraxia is FSN's sequel and another Visual Novel. Fate/Prototype was the... prototype of FSN. Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya is a manga (and later got an anime) based on FSN, an alternate universe. Fate/Apocrypha and Fate/strange fake are Light Novels, again alternate universes. Fate/Unlimited Codes is a fighting game, Fate/Extra (and Extra CCC) is a PSP game and again an alternate universe of FSN. I'm sure I forgot some other Fate/ works (tiger colosseum, school life etc.), but these are the most important ones. Basically, the basis to fully understand all Fate/ related products is Fate/stay night. And Fate/stay night's Visual Novel, which is kind of like a book, is made of three stories, which are named Fate, Unlimited Blade Works and Heaven's Feel. The anime that aired in 2006 covered more or less (I'd say less) the first story, Fate. This new anime covers the second story, Unlimited Blade Works, and the movie(s) that will come out in 2016 or later will cover the final story, Heaven's Feel. Well, Fate/ is a franchise that is part of an even larger universe, but that would be too much for now I guess...

Very much so. Without leaving a wall of text, "Fate" is the overall story, with /Stay Night, /Unlimited Blade Works, and /Heaven's Feel being alternate story paths of the Fifth Grail War. If you're not too deep into Stay Night, I'd recommend Fate/Zero first, as it's a prequel to Stay Night, and will make Stay Night make a little more sense. It was also done by ufotable, which is arguably one of the best studios in terms of quality - downside being that when you return to Stay Night, you'll have been spoiled by Zero's superiority in just about every aspect.

dailyos You'd be extraordinarily wrong to say less since 2006 FSN is 80% the Fate Rote, and the other 20% consists of certain scenes from UBW and HF as well as some anime original material to give certain characters focus and avoid anti-climatic deaths.

Ugh, I hate the English Dub of the chant, it ruins the fact that it's supposed to have a specific number of lines, randomly making the end of the chant MUCH MUCH longer than it should be. It's just the actual WRITTEN form of the chant (because for some reason it has different written lines than it does spoken, or rather the Japanese written and the English written are different.)
