to be fair, the blue shell in the game probably doesn't actually have a koopa troopa inside it, and the one in the movie does, so it would make sense that the koopa is allowed to break the rule and go after whoever he pleases

9:08 not a mistake, they are just not drawn through, and cats can hide and let out the claws. It's cruel to remove someone's claws. The only mistake is that suit has 4 fingers instead of 5, cats have 5 fingers on the front paws just as humans.

Yes, especially the Jump Man one - it would have been really awkward and immersion breaking if the Mario Bros had an entire arcade game made about them that featured an antagonist that they end up meeting in the Mushroom Kingdom.

If we think about it, even the games don't follow the same rules from each other, for example in Mario Galaxy the fire flower lasts for a few seconds while in other games it lasts until you get hit

If you're going to do the smarmy voice pedant character, then I'm going to point out flaws. 1. Cranky Kong is actually describes both as DK's father and grandfather in various games. The usual fanwank is that he adopted him after what ever happened to DK Jr. 2. Legit change I also noticed. Though also note he's a lot smaller and weaker as well. 3. You pointed out your own flaw in that he can sometimes handle sunlight (likely with some special macguffin). But also note that he is INSIDE. Maybe he came during the night time and woke up early. 4. It's also not a blue shell item, but a guy who *left his cart.* 5. No contradiction here. Mario did meet as babies, but it's also established they don't remember their time as babies, and moved to our world at some point, since Mario chases down Donkey Kong Sr. in New York city and winds up in the Mushroom Kingdom only after Bowser takes over. 6. Toadsworth seems to go away a lot in the games. He'll be present in one and not in another. Maybe he goes on vacation. 7. There's no reason they can't change out the decoration on top, or add in the map. 8. It's explicitly not a common star, though. Maybe what makes this one special is that its invincibility lasts as long as you need it to. Why else would Bowser want it? It seems more like the star rod. 9. People can change clothes. 10. The Mushrooms in fact didn't have eyes in the first Super Mario game. 11. Normally I'd let this pass. But you say "at no time in the history of Super Mario." So I have to point out that the Super Leaf also gives Mario infinite flight in the Super Mario 3 cartoon. Flight limitations seem to be gameplay only, and not diegetic to the Mario universe. 12. Pauline canonically lives in New York before she becomes Mayor of New Donk City--back when Donkey Kong first kidnaps her. No reason she couldn't be mayor there first, then move on to New Donk City. 13. Cats have retractile claws. And they can't clime without them, so they must have them in the games. The games just don't tend to animate physical damage. 14. People can change their hairstyles. 15. Again, Mario winds up living in Brooklyn for a while before the first game. And the sequel to Yoshi's Island proves those aren't actually their parents. Canonically, they spend a lot of time as babies in the Mario World before they arrive later. They even do some time travel to current day. Oh, and to top it off: You missed that Peach doesn't get kidnapped on Mario's first foray into the world. And Luigi does. Kinda changes the whole thing. I would say that Cranky Kong isn't Mario's pet monkey, but maybe he is, and he found his way through and became leader of a tribpe of Monkeys. And, of course, I know you know these are different universes, nd that Mario has had several different ones. I wsa just challenging myself to be the Bigger Pedant.

The word you're looking for is "adaptation", but yes, you are absolutely correct in that certain concessions and changes need to be made to adapt something from one medium (like a video game) to another (like a movie). Also, considering that the mainline Mario games have absolutely zero internal consistency or overarching continuity with one another, the fact that Illumination was able to pull this off while pulling from so many different, contradictory sources is nothing short of amazing.

If they want look for mistakes, they should look at stuff being miscolored or clipping (which the Mario cartoons are infamous for), not by comparing the lore! This video is just a channel being nitpicky over a movie not having the lore of the games.

fact : the blue shell yes, has broken the rule , the blue shell can HIT ANYONE as long as it is in its way, the 2nd place player can actually get hit by the blue shell IF the first place went behind the 2nd place if the 2nd place was near the shell. There was an edit mistake when mario goes in the pipe, the sign stops anyone before he headed out of the pipe but 1 pipe decided to not obey by the rules and kept showing the stop sign when mario got out of the pipe

King Boo’s in Mario Kart and can be exposed to daylight. Remember, this is not the Luigi’s Mansion design, it’s the more friendly looking design, so I wouldn’t classify this as a mistake.

Well, they weren't racing (as in a racing competition) they just happened to be on rainbow road on karts. Blue shells are weapons, in the movie it's a Koopa, who seeked revenge for DK for destroying his vehicle (which wasn't a kart, because they're not racing)

1. I don't understand what you're trying to say here. 2. As you said, mario isn't going to die in this movie. 3. I don't get where you're coming from, King Boo can race on any map in multiple mariokart games. 4. What I think happens, is the koopa can do whatever it wants, but in mariokart the blue koopas are told to go for 1st place by the race organizers. 5. The babies have always been weird, like how the hell are the baby versions able to meet the adult versions??? I wouldn't question it the baby mario lore. 6. We don't see too much of this, we might've just not seen either of them despite them being there. 7. It's cool, who cares. 8. There are more, just why would you invade... Idk, the flower kingdom, when you can just kill a couple penguins. Also the star does last for at least a very long time, just nintendo isn't going to give the players that power. 9. Dude didn't even mention the biggest difference, arguably the defining detail. In most of the games, Mario is saving Peach. However, in the movie, Bowser captures Luigi who was transported there by a warp pipe in the REAL world. This along with the switch between the real world and the Mushroom Kingdom (and the neighboring Kong and penguin Kingdoms) provide the most comparative inconsistencies. With this massive plot difference, i think Nintendo was just intending the references to the games to be more of just that, easter eggs, than assuming it's canonical lore. Plus, literally ALL of the characters from the games have different voice actors in the movie. Also, it's a 90 minute movie * based on * a video game, so we can just let the gamers enjoy it without having to think too hard about whether it makes sense when connecting back to the games.

The biggest plot hole was certainly the bomber bill (though not an incostistency with the games). On one hand, it's powerful enough to destroy the entire mushroom kingdom (nuclear?), but at the same time, Bowser's castle is right above the supposed impact point and would be caught in the explosion.

There was a mistake during the final battle with bowser in Brooklyn. When mario and luigi use the star when they touch enimes such as piranhas or bowser himself they dont die when in the games if they touch an enemy they do die.

I really hate to say this, but it's just a movie, it doesn't always need to be 100% accurate to the source material, due to Creative Lisencing. Besides, not all of the Mario Games are really canonical to the mainstream source material, like Origami King for example. The Mushroom Mario got in the Training Scene might have a simple reason as to why it was designed that way, the designers simply *forgot* to add the eyes. Also, we don't truly know how Peach came across that Warp Pipe as a Toddler in the first place. Maybe it was by accident, I don't know. As for the Epic Super Star Scene at the Climax, some of the shots were in slow motion and the Mario Brothers had Super Speed, so the effects would've lasted much sooner than you think. The most understandable decision was the Penguins having the Super Star, the King likely forbade the use of it and kept it secured so *no one,* not even the Penguins would use the Star's power. On top of that, Super Stars are stupidly powerful (even though they don't last very long), so it would make sense that they would be incredibly rare. One of the only mistakes that I noticed and had questions about, was how oblivious Mario and Luigi's Family was to the fact the two plumbers were missing for a couple days, even their Mother wasn't concerned. What the heck was that all about?
