Pat, the knocking on the bathroom stalls is a Japanese custom. In Japan bathroom stalls go down to the floor. In America the bathroom stalls have gap at the bottom. So if you want to check if it's occupied ,just look down. If you see feet, find another stall. But in Japan you have to knock on the door. If you hear a knock back , find another stall.

I think it's actually supposed to be a reference to a japanese urban legend about a ghost in a bathroom stall. you knock three times on the stall she's supposed to be in and she'll knock back! kinda like the bloody mary mirror game here in america, just a story kids try to scare themselves and their friends.

did you know you can gift tools to villagers and they'll actually replace their default tools with the ones you give them? maybe that's why you can order them now, so if you want tad to have a green star net when he's bug-hunting, you don't have to wait for the star net to cycle through the cabinet.

@@zeithea699 I've replaced all my villagers' default tools (fishing rod, net, and watering can) with customized gifts. One more way to give your island and its residents more personality. Seeing Stitches stalking a butterfly with a colorful net, or Bruce fishing with his black outdoorsy rod, or Hornsby watering flowers with a green elephant watering can... simply neat.

Not sure if you know this: If you have a Zodiac star fragment in your pocket when Celeste is on your island, you can talk to her and she will tell you about that Zodiac sign. You can do that with the different Zodiac fragments but the regular star fragments will not do anything

regarding wearing the same clothing with the villagers - if it’s a villager’s birthday and you gift them the same exact dress or shirt you are wearing (doesn’t matter if you have any other clothing items or accessories on) at their party they will notice and get really excited! this is also a great way to up your friendship level with them. 🥰

With the having villagers comment on you dressing similar to them, for me it's always worked when you're dressed as the ANIMAL they are. So, if you wore the deer costume with the antlers headpiece or the full cat costume, they would comment on it. I wore a cat costume for Raymond out of curiosity and he commented on my style lol And I know someone wore a frog outfit for a video and had a frog villager mention it.

Oh! Stag beetle fighting is a thing in Japan. It's a normal behavior for male stags to fight like that, and kids will catch them and put them together and watch them fight. It's one of the inspirations for Pokemon.

The other thing I've noticed about beetle fight club is the beetles that are shown on the tree fighting aren't on their display tree. So it's like the beetle left its tree to go fight!

I JUST learnt this and am sharing it everywhere - if you talk to all your villagers, one by one, 5 times each, one of them will eventually have a task for you by the fifth time of talking. The task is like returning an item, visiting them, or doing a treasure hunt, and completing them contributes to the smile isle nook mile goal! I also found loads of new dialogue this way which I never heard since I only ever talked to them once

Shovels, fishing poles, and slingshots have a certain number of uses before they break. If you have one of the store bought tools or the “second tier” crafted ones, you can reset the tool by customizing it to a new color. So if you dig up a hunch of flowers and you think your shovel is close to breaking, customize it to another color and it resets the count back to zero. It won’t break. Does not work on the axes or gold tools.

They added the tools ordering with the 2.0 update. The ones you can't order are the ones you have to craft. The only real benefit is if you like the look of certain ones or you want to customize how you want them. The villagers will comment on my outfit & give me something they think goes with it. Sometimes they're right; sometimes very wrong. Also, I was dressed as a frog and Coco commented on it & said she hopes I have a rabbit costume in my wardrobe.

KZbinr Koramora found out if you buy crops from Leif three days in a row, he will then mail you a DIY the next day for the Veggie Basket! (But this did NOT work for me.) Also, the cuckoo clock in The Roost will go off every hour (on the hour).

Have you seen the hidden bug in the museum? It's in the disguised bug room above where the leaf bug is kept. You'll have to walk to the back of the room, use the camera, and pan up as far as you can see. Supposedly there's different bugs that can be seen? Mines always a moth though.

One weird fact I just seen is that when you bring fossils to blathers to have them assessed, and he hands them back after checking them as unprocessed fossils instead of the skull and bones. I was just watching this video yesterday and caught that and thought I would share it.

Since you didn't know the random medical clothing thing with the doctors. You can also get stuff from the other HHP buildings too! If you go to the back of the restaurant you will get a recipe from the chef in the restaurant, you can buy food items from the workers in the cafe, at the school the teacher will give you an item related to a lesson they are teaching (I've only ever gotten plants but I don't know if you can get other things), and if you go to the clothing store they have a rotation of clothing items on all of the mannequins that you placed when designing the building. You'll have something different everyday :) including with the doctors visit! You'll get different variants of the items you get as well as different kinds.

I like the tool items, as my husband really likes to use the “outdoor “ rods to fish, and I prefer the “fish “ version. The benefit to order is that you went to the store and the ones you want aren’t there (once we went several days before either version - it was the colorful version, which we don’t like at all. Makes sense you can’t order DIY versions, as those are crafted.

One that I just discovered! If you place a Horseshoe Crab on the ground and then click on it, it will flip on it's back and kick it's legs around for several seconds before flipping back over. And I'm sure you already know this but if you click on the snapping turtle he'll snap at you. Also if you talk to Brewster on your birthday he will wish you a Happy Birthday.
