Metroid's final bosses are really something else... They all have a certain air about them that aren't only eerie, they can be downright intimidating and even terrifying. It really shows how much helplessness and dread you can portray even without dialogue.

The fact that Adam constantly reminds you to run away from it and hide, as well as the creepy music, the footsteps, everything is kinda nigthmare-ish. Not to mention it's death-stare at the very beggining of the game, geez it's horrible.

Dimi-Kun Oh yeah, that's true. The death stare was what I thought was what people thought was terrifying. Guess I should of thought about it. That is pretty terrifying to be honest. Also the fact that it knows which sector you're in could give you the constant fear that you're not alone. But again, this never happened for me.

All these years later and the final boss in Super Metroid still sends chills down my spine and gets my palms sweaty - more so than most games today. The entire sequence is a masterclass in tension, fear, heroism, sadness and desperation, without any dialogue used at all.

I have to say that the Metroid Prime/Essence boss itself is one of my favorites. You had to make use of all your Beam weapons and Visors to kill it, only for it to attach to Samus and make a "dark" clone of her. My 13 year-old self had a LOT of fun with the Gamecube back then.

elephant35e It's a good game, although the controls are something you need to get used to. I also think it's easy to get lost. In the end, it's worth it. But I do recommend looking up AM2R, as it's an unofficial remake of the game with improved controls and graphics similar to Fusion/Zero Mission.

Man ill never forget super metroid's final boss fight. Absolutely jaw dropping. Expect it to just be a repeat of the original metroid, then it gets crazier and crazier until the epic conclusion of the metroid from metroid 2 protecting you and sacrificing itself so you can put an end to mother brain once and for all. God that game was so amazing. I also like to recommend anyone who has a good stereo and subwoofer setup try super metroid with the sound system. Crank it up a bit and you will be blown away. Snes soundchip is the best soundchip ever made, and super metroid used it to its full potential.

The graphics were the only TRULY good thing about Metroid Prime Hunters, everything else was BORING I just didn't think it was good. Locations were generic, the gameplay was repetitive, the control scheme was really bothering, occasional frame rate hiccups, lack in Boss variety, music was either dull, lame, or just down right bad, with the rare good ones. Except for the escape theme I really liked the escape theme in Hunters. The multiplayer was Okay at best, harmless at worst. Federation Force had a much better control scheme. Nicer looking locations to the eyes. Music while forgettable at least it's not 65% remixes. Much better multiplayer. Decent looking graphics especially for Chibi-style. What I don't like in Federation Force is the lackluster single player mode. Lack of modes in Blast Ball. The fact that there is no option to listen to the soundtrack. Also only 9 bosses come on even Hunters had more bosses than this game. Both games stories are about as basic as you can get, but they're both still passable in terms of story and lore. I think FF has slightly more replay value than Hunters. I think Federation Force is worth more than Hunters by today's standards of a good game. By the way that's just my opinion.

Personally, as somebody who's actually played through the game but never got to the end... (WARNING: OPINION INCOMING) The game's pretty good. It was in the early days of the DS, I'm pretty sure, so the bottom screen is used quite a bit (Looking around, selecting Missiles, other Weapons, Aiming), but the controls feel good. The Jump is somewhat Floaty, and I never feel that I'm gonna miss a jump. The bosses, yes, while recycled, are still fun to fight, and the later versions require certain weapons. The Hunters are probably my favourite enemies in the game. Probably my favourite fight was the first one. The Multiplayer was alright, though you needed multiple game cards for your friends if you wanted the full extent of it. Single card play only had one mode, and one character for the Joiners. Luckily for multi-card play, there's Bots that you can set the difficulty on! They're fun to play with, and of course there's the different modes; Battle, Elimination, Capture the Flag, Secure the Points, Juggernaut, and so on. These 7 game modes are fun! Though, again, I didn't finish the game. So I can't say anymore.

I find it odd that Nintendo is willing to do Federation force, make Samus look Chibi, but seem to be afraid to do a proper sequel to Fusion, because they worry fans will be upset that Samus won't have her normal power suit. That's the only rational reason I can think of that has prevented Nintendo from making a game further in the timeline. They did just fine with the x-parasite as an enemy, so I'm certain another alien can be the nemesis. Edit: Notice that I never said there will never be a fusion sequel, just that Nintendo seems to be hesitant in making it. My hypothesis of why was wrong (it was technical limitations) but they were hesitant and I was right. Edit 2: I’ve played and beaten Dread at 100% on normal and hard, and literally unlocked everything. I don’t need reminders the game exists. As I said many times before, I never said they wouldn’t make it ever, but that they seemed hesitant for some reason. We now know the exact reason, but I was still 100% right. Thanks peanut gallery.

It has been established already that Samus is the most dangerous and formidable warrior in the entire galaxy. By making the fight against her occur while she is in Morph ball (therefore, being completelly handicapped in order for federation troops, of all things, take her out), not only could the developers give players a boss that resembled some of the game's puzzles, they also make sure that she remains the biggest threat out there without saying that the Federation Force is stronger than her. At least... That's what I think their idea was.

Also it's a 1 on 4 battle Samus was captured offscreen, and if you recall you wouldn't really know it by the Chibi style, but the space pirates and the GF Mechs are as big as Omega Pirates. So a mind controlled Samus VS 4 Omega Pirate sized GF Mechs is likely to be win for the GF Troops. Also if she fought them in her regular size she's a lot smaller than the mechs. Plus have you seen the size of most of the FF bosses the GF Troops battled imagined if it wasn't Chibi style, Samus needed her ship to kill the Rohkor Beetle.

9:30 I remember feeling really sad at this part when i was 11 years old playing that final boss seeing that giant mutant jelly fish defending my life, and dying in the process. After it's death and me getting all my energy back becoming a super powered Metroid reminds me of Frieza killing Krillin, and Goku becoming a Super Saiyan for the first time. I was like, "Oh hell no!" "You just killed my friend?!" "TIME TO DIE BITCH!" Lol! So nostalgic. Those were good times indeed. :)

Why are metroid prime games the best! They are just so intriguing, so thoughtful, they adapt to almost all types of players. They are action-packed yet full of lore and strategy. It gives you a feeling of being truly alone yet being an absolute badass in the process, the metroid prime trilogy are games that i grew up playing over and over again because of how just awe-shocking they were, my personal favorite being metroid prime 2, but all of them are unique. Not saying the other metroid games aren’t good, but the metroid prime trilogy (soon to be another one though) has the perfect balance of story, lore, strategy, action, and adventure to make a masterpiece that hopefully will NEVER be forgotten by the Nintendo Community and the Gaming Community in general. My heart goes out to you Nintendo, thanks for making my life fun when there wasn’t much good times anywhere else in my life.

Super metroid for SNES is still my all time favorite Metroid game as I have played almost all of these. The music, the graphics, (yes I know 1994 graphics versus 2022 is a complete different world but still.) Definitely the game changing points in the game is Ridley's Hide out, and then the music changed when you got to the statue after killing all the bosses to unlock the final world and then obviously the music that starts playing once mother brain transforms into the giant body. I got hyped! As a kid I too got emotional when the metroid died after it saved Samus' life, haha. Great memories😎

Metroid Fusion was far from my favorite game in the Metroid series. But its finale was my favorite. You get to fight the SA-X and just when you think all is over and done with you get to the docking bay to find your ship is gone and the game has given you an Omega Metroid to fight. You could make the case to say that this game was extremely self aware in that they had to know that having the SA-X as the final boss was way too predictable. Seriously. Raise your hand if you played through this game the first time and were completely caught off guard by the Omega Metroid showing up.

Having beaten all Metroid games but Federation Force (yeah Pinball included), the Super Metroid is the most interesting boss fight. Not in term of difficulty, but the emotions from nostalgie when you enter the room from Metroid 1 NES, to the surprise of Mother Brain having a body, to the fake-out where you'll get killed by the next Hyper Beam, to getting saved by the baby metroid, to the baby dying and to YOU owning the Hyper beam after getting it transfered from Baby Metroid who stole it from mother brain... then the destruction of the base and the secret to save the animal friends. It's so much packed into a single short moment. It felt incredible back then.

One thing I forget to notice is the fact that the final boss of Fusion is the only enemy that is not an X parasite. I think it would have been interesting if by the time you learn about the metroid breeding program, you slowly start seeing less X parasites, due to there being more metroids now on the station. Starving the player of health and items, something you have been able to slowly gain the ability to get more of over time due to you becoming stronger, only for these metroids to basically start diminishing the stations X numbers. Of course you would have to find a way in the story to make the recharge stations less effective, otherwise that idea is kinda useless to the story.

I think it's interesting how powerful Phazon actually is. It made a Metroid become something greater than a Metroid Queen, and was able to use Samus Phazon Suit to transform a Metroid to Dark Samus.

My theory is that the Metroid Prime was a metroid queen or at the very least had reach their omega stage before being corrupted. We can see in Corruption that the leviathans certainly make their host more powerful, but each of their host was already pretty impressive beforehand, certainly more than a metroid larva. Althought, depending on how long the leviathan had landed on Tallon IV, I suppose the metroid could have potentially grown up while being modified by phazon. Who knows, really. You know what really intrigues me? The emperor ing. Corruption confirms that the ings aren't creatures who were corrupted by phazon:they are literally created from phazon. So how did one of them become so much more powerful than the others? Did the leviathan, because of the absence of a host on their landing spot, decide to somehow transform itself into a giant ing?

I hope we get another metroid game...seeing the prime battles, reminded me how much it was worth the effort of getting an upgrade, but also how big all the bosses were to samus and just the strategy you had to pull to defeat them and the music is epic! The other metroid games too. I would say to Nintendo, please give us another fun well loved metroid game we all would want to see. Samus is a heroine we want to see again in her glory!

I think the Super Metroid Mother Brain is the most gruesome and terrifying boss in the series. That screem and the way it just melts the life out of you with it's eyeball, leaving you weakened. If it wasn't for that friendly metroid, Samus would be dead.

Jorge Ortiz still, the long lingering question is... how !? how did the space pirates manege to catch and brainwash a being that has destroyed 5 planets (including their homeworld) by herself, the same being wich weapons can freeze them to death, melt them down, paralyze and blow them up with one shot ! the one that killed their leader and their omega pirates with relative ease ! the one wich erradicated a galaxy treathening disiease (the x parasite), a multi-planet corruption (planet phaze and phazon) and life-threatening genetically modified beings that can suck the energy out of evry living being they encounter (metroids) all because she was asked to do it. it just doesnt make sence to me !!

I just noticed that the sound of that special effect in Metroid prime at 22:14 is pretty sure the same as in SEKIRO Shadows Die Twice the sound for the fire crackers prosthetic tool. This was funny to research as the games are so extremely different. Also interesting that it was used with a very similar graphic effect

Emperor Ing's first phase is just relentless in hard mode. The problems are aiming up makes you a sitting duck and the rotating shield to his core can change direction making a charge combo require solid timing. It's also easy to run out of Light Beam ammo (which is the only worthwhile way to damage him). It also doesn't help that you want to stand hear the phazon so you aren't hit with his close range tentacle sweeping attack.
