Nioh 1: How Does It Hold Up?

Nioh games slap. I started with the first one and beaten it at least once. Wasn't really feeling doing NG+ for it back then. Fast forward to years later, and I played Nioh 2 up from first playthrough, to beating Underworld and Depths. Nioh 2 instantly skyrocketed to becoming one of my top favorites 🔥

nioh games are the slappiest. i definitely recommend trying nioh 1's late game/ng+ whenever you get the itch to play some nioh. it's an experience well worth ...experiencing. lmao thanks for watching!! :)

appreciate you my guy. nioh 1 is top tier trolling in the late game. its been a long time since i died back to back to back ...to back to back ... to back in multiple missions lmao

I love both Nioh games, even when I prefer Nioh 2 slightly because of the added mechanics , the first game also has things that the sequel hasn't. I went into Nioh 1 without knowing where I was getting into, unlike many other players I had never played any souls games and I tried some of them after playing Nioh, and no, they are not the same by any means, I don't even consider Nioh to be a souls game at all despite the obvious influences but those are rather superficial and not so important actually. The great thing about it is that I didn't even know about ng+ at that point and after struggling with the game and reaching its end I though that was it and I was sad. But to my surprise I found out there was a ng+ and another one and another one so I ended up playing the game non-stop, I played it for 1400 hours and only stopped playing it when Nioh 2 came out, which I then played for 4k hours too. I love these games and they are on top of my all tim fav games ever together with very other few games. I hope Team Ninja makes a Nioh 3 some day, otherwise I see myself coming back to the Nioh games over and over again :)

Yep, in my opinion them calling Nioh a soulslike was more a sales tactic than anything, there's very little in common it has with souls games it's almost comical lol And we pretty much have the same background story there I practically played Nioh til Nioh 2 came out other games came and went but Nioh was my mainstay til the sequel. And even now I'm playing the sequel and having fun with it. I really hope a Nioh 3 happens, it'd be such a silly decision to just let an amazing series fade away --- but then i remember ninja gaiden so i know it is indeed possible 😔

I really liked Nioh1, but after playing Nioh2, the quality of life is much better. 1. Nioh is more difficult especially when fighting bosses at the same time. I believe my playthrough up to Way of the Nioh was 50% Living Weapon build. 2. Resetting builds in Nioh1 sucks. (Book of reincarnation) Since all weapon/ninjutsu/magic upgrades get reset too. 3. Weapon/Armor upgrade in Nioh1 sucks. Unlike in Nioh2 where upgrading using Ethereal gear gets you half of the + value. 4. Too many one shot in Nioh1. I only lasted floor13 in the Abyss iirc. I love both but 2 is more balanced.

100% agree! 1 & 4 - Yup, it was such a brutal experience in the later NG+ cycles. I ended up being completely reliant on tokugawa clan + janomecho to prevent one shots but even then the multi enemies the game throws at you makes it such a struggle regardless. 2- resetting one million percent sucks. nioh 2 felt far more generous and willing to allow the character to experiment with as few setbacks as possible. everytime you respec'd in nioh 1 you had to do the chores of re-setting all the skills. i didn't struggle with this much during my latest playthrough because I had a vision in mind for my build but christ, i remember years ago having all these build ideas and all the time spent resetting was a pain 3 - another great example of the improvements nioh 2 made that make it a better experience I really loved my time with Nioh 1 but 2 did such a great job of seeing the flaws in 1 and fixing and building upon those things. that's why it's the greatest! thanks for watching and commenting, i appreciate you. :)
