PRO TIP - If you go to the options menu you can turn off item pickup under a certain rarity. You can choose the rarity as well (basically set it to blue or purple so that the option doesn't even show up to pick up anything lower in rarity, for instance). This basically FIXES inventory management, and lowers the constant flow of loot you don't want or need.

Fun fact: there's a purpose behind the "difficulty" rating of your phantoms. The game actually tracks your playstyle - how often you're in a certain stance, what spells you use, etc. The higher their difficulty the better their AI.

What I really love about Nioh2 is that we can change the appearance of our armors and weapons to suit our preferences regardless the actual look or the type of said equipments, we can mix & match the cosmetic look of our character while still be able to use the armor we need for our intended build. That is something a *LOT* of similar games with RPG elements don't really give us the option/freedom to do so. The character customisation in Nioh2 is better than many similar games with RPG element, not many RPG games allows you to change the visual appearance of your equipments. Most of the time they left you stuck with your character's build. Nioh2 easily lets you change the look of your let's say the tanky build of Axe wielder that's obviously using heavy armors to look as some barbarian with cloth armor. We can also change the look of our let's say blessed weapon into a cursed weapon of the same type. To be honest, this is one of the most important things to keep you out from boredom while playing this game since it's quite hard and the learning curve is a bit steep for beginners. I've played over 200 hours across 2021 and spread evenly on all weapon types available to this game. Personally I liked Kusarigama, Switchglaive, and Dualswords build the most, while having Splitstaff and Axe as the least preferrable choices of main weapon. I still remember the time when I was a complete noob that it even took me 3 days to even clear the "tutorial-ish" first mission back in march, lmao.

The controls are tight, combat’s a blast and they fixed a lot of the mistakes from the original. I paid $20 for it on Amazon, but I wish I’d bought it for $60 when it first came out to support the devs and the work they’ve done. It’s a really good game.

The game is pretty difficult, but it's very fun and scratches that feeling you got for a challenging hack n slash adventure. Also great weapons, armors, and boss designs. Ps. The remastered PS5 version is $50 on Amazon right now.

2021 I have nioh2 the completed edition that's a lvl 24 character with dual wield build that's stuck on a snake boss and always gets frustrated every time I die from it but I still enjoy nioh2 till this day 😌

A major part of the game is loot. It's all about gear. Make sure you read stats actually do on weapons/armour using the help tool tip. Actually make sure you center around what you are building for. Makes an enormous difference in how difficult you will find the game. In NG don't be afraid to experiment a lot. It rewards you with titles etc which translate to more xp/damage etc when you redeem them.... And build sets if you can. Those bonuses are huge.

Once you get into it this is one of the best games I've ever played. Starting it right after beating Sekrio twice I had low expectations and while I wish the deflect mechanic was here (I know it's in Wo Long but I just don't like it as much as the depth of control and diversity of play in Nioh 2) the weapon variety, enemy and AI, the 3 stances and all the Yokai abilities etc etc etc I'm having just as much fun playing it as I did Sekiro which was way too easy on NG+ but perfectly balanced and challenging in the first playthrough (first took 2 weeks, second took 3 days) which is why I looked up the best mechanically interesting Soulslikes and went for Nioh 2 (got The Surge 2 as well, also really great deep mechanics to that soulslike as well). Anyway it's damn good is all I'm saying. It's hard to get into and understand how to play but once you do this is basically Devil May Cry in a soulslike

nioh 2 is top 2 in the aspect of (Compact) , variety of weapons (which kills boring and repetition) and keeps you excited to try new things and skills, is a huge part of and better than Sekiro in that regard (not the whole product). It is definitely the top 1 game for me, although I experienced most of the best Souls games. somehow I feel this game is still underrated compared to others who got a huge boost and hype.@@thishandleistacken

I'm loving it so far, the one minor gripe I have is so far anyway it seems like the only or at least best way to get the weapons you want is from revenants. That seems to only work if the revenants are carrying in your chosen weapon. I like dual swords but there's not a lot of revenant it seems wielding them so I'm not getting good dual swords

But in Dream of the Demon / Wise / Nioh, it's no longer possible. I mean you can still trade something but the skills inside will be randomized.

45 hours probably to complete the game in Way of the Samurai. After that's there's NG NG+ NG++ NG+++, with Dream of the: Strong/Demon/Wise/Nioh. And no it's not just the same game but harder, it's much more, you get new equipment sets (graces), new special skills each time. In Dream of the Nioh, you can finally get amazing skills. You even get more enemies and the Underworld etc. In other words, the game doesn't really start until you reach Dream of the Nioh. Everything before is an appetizer.

Just sell everything white and yellow levels as a rule at the shrine under the kodama offerings and will make tons of amrita. I wish I knew that at the beginning of Nioh 1. I'm doing it now in Nioh 2 and it's a tremendous help to boost the levels ranks

There's a Sake that you can drink that gives you +50% amrita. And if you get the Sukuna... set (the one that the Sudama can give you) then you can get 80% unused of that sake, so with 10 sake, it's as if you had 50 of them. Combine that with kodama blessing and the kodama bowl (which gives +29% blessing) and kodama core (+16% blessing I think?) and then you get a TON of amrita.

There are lots of options somewhat burried that helps the menu system a lot. Advanced filtering, avoid pick up options for loot below a certain rarity, and I think you can sell/dismantle based on rarity. It's far from a perfect menu system but there are various quality of life options to help.

I quick tip about the inventory management, decide as early as possible what weapons you want to stick with and if you want light medium or heavy armor. Then just dismantle/sell everything else. You will still have a good bit of stuff but it won’t be as overwhelming

There is a new Burst Counter, Soul Core(Where you can use yokai abilities from yokai you defeated that drops it), Two new Weapons, Can Summon Allies, Living Weapon was changed to Yokai Shift(3 types), More Enemies, New Story(obviously), Character Creation(Slider), The Skill Tree was changed and kinda overwhelming at first(To gain skill you must use specific weapon and Omnyo/Ninja), And Obviously new Areas and Still Nioh obviously, Honestly its a lot

i understand that most people got the Ninja Gaiden conversation out with Nioh, but i think the Team Ninja touch really comes through with this game. i've had so many moments with Nioh 2 that brought back fond memories of Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2, and i love that Team Ninja and From Software have sort of done their version of each others' games, and done them excessively well. also, the inventory management is a bit heavy, but the sorting options certainly help as well as the "select all'. i find myself dumping everything out via "offerings" anyway, so i don't hardly notice inventory management to begin with

I've very late to this but this game is amazing. I'm about 20 hours in and I'm lobing it so much. I've seen a lot of people praising the character creation and combat but I gotta say, I absolutely love the level design. The elevator design is so reminiscent of Dark Souls 1 and all the short cuts make every level so much more intriguing and makes you wanna explore even more. It's still pretty hard and I never played the first one so it took me quite a while to get used to it but once I did I loves it so much

@@just_jin5850 I got it on ps+ for free but even if I hadn't I would totally say it's worth the money. If you enjoy Souls like games then you should definitely try it. The level design is really fun, there's a ton of cool enemies, the boss fights are all really engaging and the combat is tricky but also really satisfying. I'd definitely recommend it but if you aren't 100% sold on the game yet then maybe wait for it to be on sale? I've seen it be on sale quite often in the store. Hope this helps:)

Helpful hint - you DONT have to fight the big mini boss at the first 3 minutes of the game. If this is your first difficult souls-like game you're gonna have a difficult time. Just take a deep breath when you get frustrated and try new things. Items are useful too - be sure to read what they do.

If you get it.. dont get too frustrated. You're meant to die a lot. Just make sure you collect stuff from killing enemies, put the highest armor on, and offer everything else to the shrine to get upgrade points. Once you're a higher level, then you can focus on progressing

You can sort the weapons and armour out by atk power or defence. So when you change things just choose whatever is on top.

One small correction to the video. You DO NOT, in fact, have to have beat the level previously like in Nioh 1 to be able to play it with a friend. Once you complete the opening mission you can play every mission with up to 2 other people but the game adds various ways of making it more difficult to compensate.

7:22 "You'll find that equipment isn't terribly important in this game". Maybe not on your first run, but in my opinion completing New Game on Nioh is far from finishing Nioh, and from NG+ onward equipment becomes arguably the most important aspect of the game!

Agree. Unless you are a super skilled player who can beat the game naked with some random weapon. Watched some Japanese players destroying the first Nioh with pure skill and that's so cool. I'm getting better after 300+ hours but no where near that skilled. One day... maybe one day😅

Me and my friend just finished clearing the last DLC in Dream of the Samurai-we both ended up enjoying the game way more than we thought we would. All of the weapons are fun in their own way, the ninja and omnyo magic systems are great, and the story ended up being surprisingly good. That last cutscene of the last DLC was a nice send-off for the game

Nioh 2 easily the best souls genre game in terms of gameplay. Setting and story didn't resonate with me like it could for others, but I very very easily put it above every single souls-like game, fromsoft included. The combat is much more complex, and always has you find new ways to overcome obstacles and build your character. It goes out of it's way to punish common souls habits, like only dodging and has you learn the combat to actually get better, not just wait around for the right moment. The gameplay is honestly so much fun that when eldenring dropped, although I did like it, made me want for another team ninja game. Elden ring felt so much slower and simple, compared to nioh 2, that the game was honestly way more easy than I hoped for. I'm excited for wolong when that shows up.

Yo guys! I'm happy to see Nioh 2 is getting well deserved praise :) I've been playing the game for about 10 hours or so, and I gotta admit, it's pretty brutal. I came to Nioh 2 straight from Nioh 1 (only last mission left there) and I felt pretty comfortable there already. Not in this one, the new mechanics really ramp up the tension and I keep dying a lot... but it's hell of a fun to learn :)

Sekiro and Nioh are both faster paced than Bloodborne in my opinion, but for some Reason I haven't beaten the first Nioh but beaten Sekiro so I don't know how that ranks them :D

@@maxp4573 I'd say Nioh is harder cause Sekiros parry is pretty forgiving. Nioh has a lot of things to consider with stances and items and ki pulse where as Sekiro focuses a lot more on timing with stuff like the prostethic tool being somewhat situational.

I disagree with your statement that the level design in Nioh one was "very good". Have you finished the game? The amount of asset flipping and boring labyrinth-design is awful. What saved the first one was the impeccably good combat system. What dragged it down was the level design (and maybe the overall focus on grind).

Mrs_Puffington I agree. What levels there were in Nioh were good, but I grew tired of having to replay the same recycled levels. I really hope they fixed that with this one. I’d rather play a lean and focused 30-40 hour game than a bloated 50-80 hour one.

The enemy types were recycled way too quickly too... Good game but far from great. Too many repetitive loot drops too, and many many mechanics thrown at the player at once. Still worth the money I spent on it and had some good times but never finished it. Definitely not getting Nioh 2

Also you can hide your helmet in the settings so that you can still see that face you spent one hour customizing
