I am insanely excited for this, staffs are one of my favorite weapons that I am passionate about training with in real life, next to swords. I love martial arts and this aspect of Nioh 2 has always made me enjoy the game

Just download the 1.11 update, realllllllly excited for this weapon. Very unique that its a strength weapon that scales off magic and courage as well, and also has the movement of something like tonfas. To add that you'll be wearing heavy armor with this weapon, its just insane.

Judging by what i've seen about the advanced moveset, the weapon is bonkers. Backwave-style parry, Reaper-like move that buffs your attack if it ends up fully draining your ki, ability to jump that takes you higher than the spear one and a God of Wind-like combo ender that requires perfect timing to execute correctly.

It's likely they will add some claw type weapon because Team Ninja seems to have an inclination of porting weapons from Ninja Gaiden. The splitstaff is very similar to the lunar staff from NG3 RE.

Split staff has Magic as one of its stats. Probably next weapon will have dex as one of its stats. Nunchucks are mostly Chinese weapon and will be pretty similar to split staff and tonfas. Naginatas are kinda of spear and switchblade mid stance. My bet is some sort of claw weapon to build with dex. Really wish unarmed combat (like gloves of magic/blessed handcuffs) would be next.

Honestly I am disappointed with its dash attacks and how they look so underwhelming, in ng, the lunar staff had one of the coolest dash attacks (the heavy one) hope there is some skill like advancing storm that makes the dash attack cooler. Nice video, looking forward to seeing the skills this weapon has

My main is a kusarigama and I was really expecting some sort of unarmed, gloves type of weapon. When the split staff was announced I was a bit frustrated. Decided to try it out and it got me totally addicted to it. I’m usually more a fan of small weapons, unarmed and chains but the split staff really got me surprised. I’m having tons of fun. Still have my kusarigama with me and made my build dex and courage focused with lots of ninjutsu/ untouched ninjutsu perks on my gear. It’s been a blast.

I'm a bit disppointed. I feel like its a new type of a kusarigama. A proper staff with lot of mobility skills and fast combos would've been better choice , a "wukong" themed weapon for ex.
