Great vid! One thing I miss in Final Bar Line are the character bios/descriptions on the backs of the cards. I thought it was cool to check out in Curtain Call. But it’s amazing that they released a new theatrhythm game

It might take a long time to get to but there is a mode similar to Dark Notes and Quest Medley in Final Bar Line! If you complete every series you unlock an Endless World. It gives you a few options between songs and quests for each song which seem to be random and 3 lives. The main difference is that it's more an endurance mode than the other two!

This was from 11 months ago, so maybe you already know this now, but you don't actually have to finish all series, you just need to finish enough to unlock the actual Theatrhythm series, which I believe took 5 finished. Then you finish that and unlock Endless World.

I worked on initial translations for the All-Star Carnival translation project before I left the group. Sometimes it's nice to look back on it because it felt so magical when I first saw the English text pop up in the game. Thanks for showcasing that. Also I think the most interesting thing about the original Theatrhythm is that it featured Somnus as a DLC song back when FFXV was still called Versus XIII. Good thing we have it in Final Bar Line by default. Lovely song.

I actually remember that! I for some reason thought it was Curtain Call that had the track before looking it up and finding out it was the original. Really cool that "Versus XIII" officially still exists in a Final Fantasy game as sort of a little historical marker. Also, thanks for being a part of that community! I played a ton of ASC before Final Bar Line was out and it was nice having a bit of localization. :)

I wish you touched a little more on the original song arrangements Theatrhythm had Battle at the Big Bridge in All Star Carnival is one of the best literal boss songs I've heard and I will never stop talking about it

Final Bar Line made me go back to Curtain Call instead of buying the new game, maybe one day on sale 🤣 glad we’re all enjoying every Theatrhythm game out there It’s one of those games you don’t mind having options for-even the original release feels a little special to own. It’s cozy, and seeing the little differences in song list and presentation is really cute too

The more I watch the old footage the more I REALLY really appreciate how big and bold they were!!!!! It’s so cute! I forgot how they form a sentence together! Aaaaaaaaaaaa I’m so glad I own the original too. I haven’t played it in a long time but it’s so Damn CUTE! And stylus mode is my favorite and is part of why I like the 3DS game more than the new console release. Plus I can play it in bed with the 3ds at full speaker volume 5 inches from my face LOL it’s very intimate 😂

OH also I really did like X-2 and XIII-2! I was OBSESSED with X-2, and I’m glad I was. I got wall scrolls and playing cards and gunner Yuna figures, which isn’t normal for me, it’s really wholesome....and I thought XV was great at launch....but I didn’t finish it after I did every side quest available at the time because I didn’t want to fight Leviathan 💀 and have things happen 😂 and I don’t want to buy the DLC or Royal Ending....aaaaaaaaaaa😂😂😂 but hey that’s okay, it was good on release. Just wish they had better storytelling when it comes to Lunafreya and some other stuff. Needed more depth. The whole DLC approach suckkked. I guess that’s what’s bad about the original release. Exploring with the Bros was top tier though.

I’m going to be the crazy lady replying to herself one last time. This video was a really fun watch! The most special thing about stylus use to me is that button-based rhythm gameplay is kind of the norm, and the norm is okay! It works! But the Stylus Control is so lively, so different, so organic! It really feels like conducting or dancing, in contrast with straight mechanical button controls.

I think this video sold me on checking out the Theatryhm games. I’ve always overlooked them, thinking they wouldn’t do much for me gameplay wise but it seems I may have been wrong about that. I’m going to have to keep it in mind and pick up Final Bar Line sometime this year. For your “hot takes”: I completely agree with FF15 being a good game. The story isn’t great but it’s so much fun to explore the open world and, take on hunts, listen to character banter, and so on. It’s a great experience. I mostly agree with X-2. The combat system is incredible, one of my favorites of the entire series. I wish the story flowed better and was fleshed out more though. I love the concept they were going for, but I don’t feel like the game really gets to the point where the true ending works as well as it should. 13-2 is excellent. I’d argue 13 itself is pretty good too, it just takes way too long to get to the best parts.

Got Final Bar Line as a bday gift recently and it's amazing. Already had the ones on 3DS but didn't really play them. It's more fun on switch imo and there's so much to choose from. Also can't wait to play the ff16 songs in it.

i love those games, playing curtain call, all-star carnival and final bar line pretty much everyday....definitely the best one and my favorite is curtain call, i have like 550 hours of playtime

I have never once seen the fmv cut scenes in FBL and I also miss them very much, since I liked them in the earlier titles (also the mode, not only the scenes), I have to play FBL more to see the EMS and try it out!

I really missed my old 3DS and Curtain Calls, this gives some so much memory! However, I’m still currently playing Theatrhythm Final Bar Line on my switch and still having a blast! There was also a mobile port for IOS (IPhone/IPad) but I know they were removed due to lack of compatibility with newer updates of IOS.

I personally prefer the stylus over buttons. It's why I think Final Curtain Call is the best of them all. Though the song library in 3 is obviously better.

The first game was great when it came out, but it's shocking how bad it is now compared to everything afterwards, especially Final Bar Line, which now has 523 tracks with all the DLC haha.
