All that work for a dent that could be fixed with a PDR technician. Did you really just mix 10 ounces of primers for that small of a job.... God dam what the hell are they doing in Thailand.

This looked more like a biology lab than a paint work area. VERY EXPENSIVE!! and very cost prohibitive.

Entertaining but not educational for sure. I have been doing smart repairs before the days of chipsaway and revive. It's all about keeping the job to a minimum. Surely other readers here could also do the job much quickly and with less efforts. This video is a prime example of body shop process and set up. You wrap up a car like that on customers drive away you will have local environmental services chasing you for toxic pollution.

I worked in my father's body shop from age 15-24, he has over 30 years experience and taught me everything. This is a terrible video, not once did he block the bodywork nor did he use a ultraviolet light to check his blend work.

Hi guys. There is some wrong information I can see in video !! You have to apply Etch primer to direct metal.instead urethane primer ? U can’t apply Polyester filler on urethane primer !!
@EmpireMG5 жыл бұрын
Why did you put primer twice ?
@Efra-tesa08183 жыл бұрын
80 grit is too rough I will use the 180 and 320 then primer and 600 to sand the primer and 800 wet sanding ready to paint. I know this

Lol that was exactly my thought, i work with a bunch of russians PDR technicians and they fix way worse shit than that little baby dent.

Everybody knows it's the only correct way, that's why nobody does it, because paint jobs became monkey business and are cheap, today everybody can do it for less. Now i ask you a question, how much will you pay a guy in the video for his job, only what was shown in the video, not the whole car. So its about 250 to 450 usd work, about 100 in costs for expenses. So where is the profit? When people will pay 1000 to 1500 for such repair, then it will be done correctly. Thats why when painting your car, look for cheapest offer as others will do the same and charge 3 times more.

Although he could’ve used an pdr technician the repair methods are very weird. Why prime before filling if the filler binds straight to the substrate… very wasteful and inefficient

I agree with the NIOSH recommendations. I've read that full face mask isn't necessary with protective glasses. In fact, it's pretty hard to wear a full mask with glasses. I was also told by 3M/DuPont before they sold their paint line that a particulate respirator would be fine for isocyanates with a good downdraft booth if cartridges,especially prefilters were changed regularly. There are also particulate respirators on the market thst claim to be isocyanate safe. Go figure. If you're spraying in a booth,IMO,use a fresh air full mask system. Especially if you're spraying in volume

Great video, very informative! Only criticism from me is that I'd have the small door dint repaired by PDR without all the hassle of spray painting.
