I have been in love with this voice for 5 decades, and still get excited every time I pick it up. People ask me why (one man today in fact) and I tell them this is my true voice, and that I get great joy every time I even pick a shakuhachi up.
I am totally overwhelmed wiht his mastery of the shakuhachi; he controls the flute so perfectly!

Its great fun playing on the street. Especially when the listener does not see you right away. It is like giving everyone their own soundtrack music to carry them away on their journey...

¡¡¡DOOMO ARIGATOO!!!

Knowing that the instrument had a religious significance makes me realize it probably wasn't a coincidence that Wagakki Band decided to use the shakuhachi to play the intro and also the solo in the song "Tengaku" 天樂 , which roughly translates as "Heaven's Song".
So wonderful!! What is the name of the first song?

Nobody seems to really know the song around 3:30 but does someone known the name of the microphone he is using? It's not a condenser, right? I only have one microphone (Shurez SM 58) and I started experimenting on it for shakuhachi recording. Maybe some tips? :)

Yes ney is turkish. There are different version different countries.
Why waste the shakuhachi in stereotypical elevator music (with a Western scale, btw)?
