This is the best tutorial ever! How do you keep the ends from being too dry and not looking clean like the start of the braid? They start to get a little knotted. Are you applying more gel as you go? ❤️
@NiqueLynn3 ай бұрын
Thank you! Yes exactly but not too much just a bit to my finger tips as I braid down for smoothing..I also comb the hair sometimes just a little as I braid down to keep everything detangled. This will help with tangling as well when it comes time for the take down 👍🏾🙂

I learned 2yrs ago (thanks to the pandemic) how to braid my biracial son's hair (I'm white 🤗) and with practice I've gotten pretty good. Now others (with way shorter hair) have noticed and ask me to braid their hair like his 😳... any tips with shorter hair? I mean like barely 3 inchs short 😅... also what braiding gels or paste do you recommend? I try to make sure I know the texture of someone's hair but I'm still not sure which product works best for which hair texture 🤔. PS: those box braids were fresh! So amazing!
@NiqueLynn2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing to be honest, I really don't braid lengths under 3 inches as it is very difficult for me to grip especially for box braids. I would suggest letting the hair grow out some.

ma'am I am living in Turkey and no barber here is competent enough to do my hairline like that... do you have any tips? I heard that for braiding you need to start not exactly from the start of your hairline and leave some hair there, cut them short and continue from a finger above. is that correct?
@NiqueLynn3 жыл бұрын
Turkey, wow that is amazing. Just my thoughts but it really depends what the client wants. I have some client’s that really have a defined hairline that is separated from the style. Then some clients hair even at the hair line is the same length of the rest of their hair. From what you described it sounds correct. My husband is a barber as well and my next video will be a collab on men’s braids 😊

I have a question. When I do box braids on my husbands hair the tails of his braids tend to curl inward towards his neck, how do I prevent that from happening and make sure to keep the tails of his braids stay straight?
@NiqueLynn4 жыл бұрын
That is a great question. Two suggestions. 1. Braid all the way down as far as you can. 2. I wouldn’t suggest this all of the time but you can always take a flat iron on low heat and run it over the ends. Hope that helps hun! 😊

My boyfriend currently has an afro that's getting quite long and large. He loves the length, but wants to be able to wear hats again. Will box braids hinder his ability to grow his hair even longer? He's wanting to eventually get locs when his hair is a length he's pleased with, so I mentioned the possibility of box braids until that length is reached. What do you think? (If you reply, thank you for taking the time to read this. I truly appreciate it 😊)
