After the Japanese invasion and the capitulation on March 8, 1942 , presenter Garthoff ended the broadcast with the words "We are closing now. Goodbye, until better times. Long live the Queen." NIROM then broadcast another week and, to the surprise of the listeners, still decided to broadcast the Wilhelmus . When the Japanese realized what that music was, three broadcasters were executed. They were JPJW Kusters, N. van der Hoogte and V. Kudding.

No that is just interference, I believe this is transmitted on shortwave frequencies as I have heard the same thing going on in shortwave now.

Hoe? we kwamen terug naar Indonesië, we werden pas eruitgegooit in de jaren 50. Om het nog niet te hebben over Suriname.

@@tiuriverdrag6124 Maar het was niet meer hetzelfde als voor 1942. Voor 1942 was de tuan belanda heer en meester over het land en zijn mensen! Na de semi-onafhankelijkheid onder de Japanners en de terugkeer van de Nederlanders die ontdekten dat niets bij het oude was gebleven (daarom ook de politionele acties) en de mensen opstandig waren geworden, was duidelijk dat het traditionele koloniale rijk van Nederland verleden tijd was - gemarkeerd met die laatste uitzending van de NIROM.
