I know I’m a little late but that jazzmaster is cool! Did you mod or is it from the factory like that(the Les Paul bridge and color).

Yeah, love that Jazzmaster. I got it secondhanded with the relic for so low price. Only things that are swapped on jazzmaster are 1Meg pots, locking tuners from Guyker and more yellow pickup covers. And on the Les Paul only pickups are swapped. The neck pickup is from Classic Vibe Mustang (it was bridge position). I removed the stock bridge pickup because it was too hot and cold sounding and put the neck pickup in the bridge position instead. Thanks! 😉

For the clean intro you could have used the second guitar because is similar to the mosrite which is the same guitar that kurt used to record drain you

Thanks for your advice. I know it is copy of the Mosrite/Hi-Flier that is the reason why I bought it. But unfortunetely I tried it and the Jazzmaster was closer to the studio intro sound. And from what I tried after uploading this cover the clean intro must be Stratocaster neck pickup. If I wouldn't have my strat at my friends place at the time of recording this cover I would use it for intro because it's so close. Aaron Rash in his video used strat too for Drain You intro.

Hey quick question about the hi-flier copy that you played in this video. Did you have to modify the size of the bridge pickup cavity to fit that humbucker in there? I was wondering because i might buy this guitar and want to mod it similarly.

Yeah it needed some routing but not that much. Because the humbucker is thicker I needed to make the hole thicker. P90 thickness I think is 35mm and the humbucker is 40mm. And be careful to select right humbucker pickup ring. I would recommend one that is bigger and has screws far from eachother than standard size. In my case it holds on only 2 screws instead of 4 because the other 2 screws are in the pickup hole and have no material to screw into. This is caused by P90 being longer than humbucker. But it holds even on 2 screws and yeah it works. Fortunetely apart from routing it didn't need any other mods. Recently I put 500k tone pot because the neck pickup always sounded little bit dark. For the price it's amazing guitar. Only downside is that it's little bit heavier. But that is standard in modern Mosrite/Hi-Flier copy's from what I searched.

@@eLpexy It originally had two P90s. The bridge pickup was hot but quiet compared to neck pickup. So I swapped it for Alnico 2 PAF voiced humbucker with lower impedance (8kOhms). Now I am more than happy with this guitar. For the price you got amazing Mosrite/Hi-Flier tones. From my small collection it's my go to reliable guitar that never lets you down. Thank you! Chasing this distortion tone was fun for me and it unlocked me the path to Nevermind covers because what I tried many Nevermind songs used this kind of tone. So I can reuse those IRs and it kind of made it easier for me for the future covers. Maybe in future I will try to get better clean tone.

​​@@Nvrnmind0Hmm. First I would advise using not that low but lower output (7-9kOhm) P90 or Jazzmaster singlecoils. Then some low gain amp. For me the Vox AC30 worked best. You must find middle point of gain because it must be clean and at the same time it must have some attack to it. And last is good IRs / speakers for clean tone so I would recomend Alnico Blue / Gold, G12T-100 (or G12T-75) and Greenback. It worked for my setup so you don't have to follow these rules. I almost forgot I used little bit of echo and delay in post production to get closer to that slappy sound. I don't use the same gear that Kurt had and that is what I like. You can get similar sound with your gear. Thank you for support! If you have a question I don't have problem of answering it.

Yo dude what ds1 settings on the mr classic, have the same guitar, even has an alnico humbucker added, own a ds1, but can't get the best sound (mine amp is also a line 6)

I´m afraid it isn´t the DS-1 settings because for me the DS-1 has for me same sound character even when the knobs are tweekd. I use Level MAX, Tone 10 o´clock, Distortion MAX. The distorted tone is very dependent on the clean channel used, speaker or IR (in my case) and possibly graphic EQ that I used. So if you use DS-1 into different amps the DS-1 will sound different to. Maybe I will do basic tutorial about Nevermind distortion sound.

The day when I upload videos depends on how much time I have for recreating tones since sometimes it takes long time to find out the right settings. Because before the cover itself I am doing research and trying to match the exact tone so it can take even several hours (maybe even days) before I start recording and then I have to mix it and edit the video so it's not that easy and fast process. So I cannot promise when will be next cover. Sometimes I don't have the mood to do covers even when I have time. 🤷

No. It´s just rainbow strap that in my opinion fits the sunburst finish of the guitar. I got tired of people asking me on my band gigs if I am gay, LGBT member or something because of the strap. So I added the text "Not LGBT" that I think speaks for itself. Sometimes rainbow is just rainbow...
