When this came out in late '88 it really was the first time a lot of people got turned on to Nirvana. First time I saw long lines to get in Nirvana shows was shortly after this was released in November of 1988. You will read a lot about how Nirvana became a thing in '91, but in reality the band officially broke right here.

on The Rough Guide to Nirvana by Gillian Gaar: "That the band approached their debut with tongue in cheek is evident from the ten-second sound collage that preceded the song proper (at least on the single version), ending with an exhortation from the Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoon character, Natasha Fatale, for the listener "to do a Twist, the Surf,a wild Watusi, a Frug, or a swinging Hully Gully!""
@davegsux7 жыл бұрын
and that intro was supposed to be in the album version, on Bleach, but Kurt forgot to bring the tape that contained that intro, so the final version of Love Buzz ended up being recorded without the intro

For the unkowledged SUB POP was a fanzine.. Hence SP10 being the first release.. The zine had i believe 4 cassette releases during its 9 issue run starting in 79/80.... Way before grunge

3 CASSETTES... #5, 7 & 9... the rest were different sized fanzines released during different years. Bruce released 2000 of SP#5 due to the increasingly amount of bands that contributed songs.

Bleh, "record collector" this, "want to add it to my collection" that.... I only wish for these to be more widely available (NOT such a rare/collectible), so that I can do my own better sounding audio-rip! Nothing against who ever did the one for this video or the sound quality here (actually this is probably the best I've EVER heard this first single), I just like having the ability/accessibility of doing my own. Anyway.... it pisses me off it's such a "one arm, one leg, oh and your first born" collectible.

Is it just me or does anyone else think Jack Endino made Nirvana drums sound like shite? One was it just Chad Channing? He came up with some great patterns and memorable rhythms but he had poor definition sometimes
@renemies788 жыл бұрын
I think it's a combination of both. He should have worked on capturing Chad's playing better than just setting up his studio with a standard setting for all drummers.
@danxepha45358 жыл бұрын
I've just picked up a copy of the 2009 remastered 20th anniversary edition on vinyl. Its well worth getting as the remaster really sorts the drums out and gives them some amazing detail and power. It almost sounds like a different album (but in a good way).
