It is incredible to watch my 16 year old granddaughter have the poise and confidence to stand in front of 140+ seasoned professionals and belt this out. #proudgrandfather
@chadwi129 жыл бұрын
As a huge fan of cobain, I normally am not a fan of anyone doing renditions of any his songs!!!! Mainly because they always fail greatly in comparison!!!! I feel like his songs usually should just be left alone!!!! And not because I want it to be this way!!! I always listen when I see a cover, hoping to get surprised! But in the end I always come away disappointed.. Renditions of his songs are just not flattering to the him the artist, In my opinion, mainly because they never seem to add anything to it!!!! All of that said, That is not the case here!!!! Ur granddaughter was magnificent, and u should be very very proud!!! She has a mystique about her!!! Her voice is literally enchanting, which makes her a perfect combo for this song!!! I also would have thought that annunciating all the words perfectly, would have taken away from the song, but again, not here!!!! Because her voice itself leaves you sort of spell bound, understanding the words is just an added plus!!! I found myself wanting to know the words for the first time!!!! She has honestly done something amazing here!!!! At least in my eyes!!! When nirvana was inducted to the rockin roll hall of fame, they had Joan Jett (a legend) get up with the surviving members of nirvana and sing this exact song!!!! They would have been much better off getting your grand daughter!!!! Her rendition blows the doors off of Jett's attempt!!! I think that's all the praise one needs to here!!!!

chad wiggins Wow... Thank you Chad for your candid review. I too feel the same way about classic songs and I am usually disappointed by re-makes. While I am obviously biased about McKenna's performance, watching her grow and develop as an artist has been nothing short of amazing.

I have always considered this one of the greatest songs ever written. Not because of the lyrics but in spite of them. Not because of it's musical beauty but in spite of musical beauty itself. It has always felt real. Resonating. Not some artists attempt to capture a period but rather a period in time capturing an artist. I suppose when one experiences great suffering one can express it better than others. The orchestre version lets us realize that this is classic. Thank you Kurt Cobain!
