This was the very first performance of Nirvana with Pat as a member of the band. Pat had sold his guitars to get a plane ticket to Seattle to start rehearsals and Kurt gave him that blue Mosrite so he had at least a guitar he could use before Fender would supply him with new guitars.
@pizzapingvin9 жыл бұрын
+RastaSaiyaman Wasnt it that he came with his guitar (as far as I know he still has it, his famous wooden/golden looking "forgotthebrand" expensive fancy guitar. And the band said na-ah, cannot play that it would look weird. Then Kurt gave him the blue one.
@RastaSaiyaman9 жыл бұрын
pizzapingvin Nope, according to Pat himself when he was interviewed a couple of years ago for "Guitarworld" he didn't own a guitar at all when he joined Nirvana because he had to sell them all. loudwire.com/foo-fighters-pat-smear-smashing-fender-strats-kurt-cobain/ That fancy brand is Hagstrom and in those days they had been out of business since the late seventies. Kurt would NEVER object to Pat appearing with a gold sparkle guitar. In fact Kurt often borrowed a Hagstrom from the the guys from Mudhoney when the bands would tour together so he was quite familiar with them. Look up the "Live and loud" footage and you will see Pat playing a Blue Fender, a Red Hagstrom and a black Fender which he later trashes.
@RastaSaiyaman9 жыл бұрын

I was just a kid, but I already knew what music was good thanks my parents and older brother. Different times now. These days the only loyalty kids have about what they find to be of substance is Donald Trump. Literally all of these artists are Liberals. Hell, even Chris Cornell thought Trump was a douchebag and Kurt Cobain asked any fans who hate women, gay people or are racists to not but their records or go to their shows. How the times have changed. I'm glad the best artists still put their middle finger up to trump though, lmao! 😂

This song is not rocket science on the drums. Say that about Bonham, or Moon, or Mitch Mitchell. Grohl was a great dummer, no doubt, but Cobain didn't need him. One of the best markers of a killer drummer is one who can make simple shit sound amazing the 16th-note snare fills starting at 09:01 are about as simple as it gets for drum fills, but somehow he makes them sound different. It could be an essentially imperceptible lag on the left hand or it could be mechanical precision; it could be that each hit is precisely the same volume - as an experienced, professional drummer, I can't even nail down why he just sounds better than anyone else playing this style of drumming. I only wish he had bigger drum sounds. He played astronomically large drums (his rack tom was a small floor tom) but he didn't tune them up high enough, so they always sounded super dead.

+Kody Patrick He was the other guitar player for Nirvana. He joined to tour for the band's last album; he was with them for their "Unplugged in New York" show. He was also a member of The Germs, a punk rock band from the late 70's. Now he's a member of Foo Fighters.

Some people think that only one Nirvana member went on to play in the Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl) but there was also a second member (Pat Smear). Yes he wasn't an official member when in Nirvana, but he did perform Live with them, plus (according to Kurt) he was very close to becoming an official member.

Even listening to them jam lightly here is transcendent.
