It's impossible to interview nirvana buddy. That's why he had to try and manipulate the questions in such a stupid way, but nirvana was like the 3 stooges. They never took any of them seriously. But at the same time they'd contradict themselves a bit by complaining that they don't like what the press labels them as, so he's basically asking what would you like your style of music to be called. You have to remember that just a year before nevermind it was all Las angelas glam metal and shit so nirvana was an entire new sound to the masses. I understand both points of view. Nirvana didn't want to be labeled as anythung. If you like the music then listen, but I also understand the interviewer trying to figure shit out for the masses. And as anyone as all these interviews were to the band I'm certainly glad they did them all because this content is such gold for me and many fans that didn't have the money to see them luve, or weren't old enough or even born yet, to see nirvana and their personalities..

Interviewer: " I'm sure you dislike labels but then where do you see that your music fits in? " Kurt: " In Rock and Roll " ... *shit eating grin* I..fucking..love how they handled the first line of questioning, especially that part. If I want to listen to some Metal, I'll have to become familiar with 9 variations of it.. and which sub genre's are seemingly at odds with which. At best it's very tiring, certainly pointless. Come to think of it that is exactly what made Nirvana exceptional, they didn't complicate it or limit themselves to appease anyone. If you know their music through and through, they touch on a wide range of musical styles.. and some that I personally have no comparison for.

Wide range of musical styles? Every one of their songs sounds the same, they just put the 3 chords in different order... and went a little slower on a few

Within the first 10 secs of this interview, betw pronouncing it as “Nir-vanna” and asking, “are Nirvana still a punk band,” Kurt, Krist, and Dave all knew they were gonna make a mockery of the interviewer. Lol. Man, I ❤️ these guys.

I remember watching this when it originally came out and recording it on VHS and rewatching it many times. There was no KZbin and I can remember having a tape in the VCR and the VCR remote in hand , TV on much and ready to record any videos or interviews from Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Sound Garden, Ugly Kid Joe, Blind Melon, RHCP, Guns N Roses among others. Still got several VHS tapes with all this stuff I saved.

@michaelclyburn58584 жыл бұрын
If the lame interviewer would ask questions like: Who are your favorite bands? What are your top 3 albums of all time? Do you like Fender or Gibson? Krist who’s your favorite bassist? Kurt what’s your favorite Vaselines song? Etc.. etc.. He would have gotten some awesome answers and a good interview. Guaranteed!

Look at Krist @ 11:58. He is starting to have enough of that stupid interviewer. Haha
@susaninmaine9 жыл бұрын
SalDOWN yeah, and well, he also knows he's talking too much, and that a lot of these questions should probably have been fielded to Kurt, even tho Kurt was being passive and not "cooperative" with the interviewer, and Krist is sort of like, shit...um...wait...what are we doing here?
