Review of Nishane Fan Your Flames
A couple aspects of this fragrance might surprise you...
First, there is a lot less sweetness, and a lot less of a creamy nature than you might expect. Instead, the fragrance is very heavy on a dry tobacco along with a strong smoky woodiness, and the tonka bean here is quite spicy. It's a love or hate... so be careful before you buy. Would not blind buy.

One thing I forgot to mention guys, is that in the dry down the fragrance takes on a more powdery character, and a lot of the “pungent” challenging smells I described do become more tame. Still not my cup of tea.

Good review love the honesty! I think my nose interprets it quite different. I’d never think this was an amouage- neither do I get a dominant incense tobacco. Personally this is one my favorites! Extremely unique while for me still being very wearable. There is certainly tobacco but on me it becomes a dry and sweet wood + oak moss + coconut combo. It’s like if Margiela came out with a more expensive flanker “Jazz Club: Havana”- same JC vibe but in A grimy festive Cuban way- including island rum, coconut and, tobacco. It smells very alive, like a rio festival but in Cuba. I was trying to see what you were smelling and I guess close to skin I can kind of force myself to see it that way. Luckily it doesn’t disappoint me as much as you.

I think the smoke accord is more prominent to your nose than mine. That might be causing the differences

I only smell coconut, idk if it's cos I'm used to smelling real coconut oil. Made naturally at home, it smells the same but not as addictive at the top and heart notes the dry downs smells better

I’m glad I saw your review and also got a sample first. With all the hype I almost blind bought but I’m glad I didn’t. Like you described it does have sharp pungent nuances. It’s not the smooth coconut based fragrance I was hoping for so it’s a pass for me.

I found the opening spicy, but IMO it is pretty smooth when it starts drying down. Pretty unique , not sure when seasons or when I would wear it or I would have purchased a full bottle.

This is a very interesting fragrance. The rum and tobacco is very "in your face", that's all I get from it.

Always wondered what this frag was like, there has been so much hype on it (not as much at Ani or Hacivat) Anyway I was wondering could you do a review on a classic iconic gentlemen perfume non other than Channel Pour Monsieur original EDT VS EDP ?

@@UrbanDwellerNYC The EDT (1955) is an iconic classic for men like Pour un Homme de Caron (1934) or Eau de Hermés (1951) or Vetiver by Guerlain (1961). I have been testing the EDP (2014) by Jacques Polge lately , at first I hated it and was going to sell it but now it growing on me with the dry down.

It’s not at all the smooth coconut based fragrance I was expecting. Like you said it does have the strong pungent nuances. I’m glad I got the sample first. Not my cup of tea either.
