Thank you for the excellent video; it was very helpful to understand the quality of filters. Note that the white balance is different for each shot in your comparison. For example, the Shot with ND8 had 5300K, ND64+ND8 had 5900K, and ND1000 had 6400 K. That could explain why you added a little bit of warmth to the scene as you stepped up the ND density.

Ahhh yes of course. How obvious now you say it. Thanks so much. I’ll pin this comment in the hope other read it. Thank you.

Yup. I think this is where creativity comes into play when using these filters. I believe when in manual is where we could really gauge the capability of each filter

When the magnetic rings are on without the filter, does your lens hood fit? That's a deal breaker for me. I always shoot with the hoods on, if I have to take the rings off to install lens hood, defeats the purpose of convenance. Thanks, nice vid..
@RalphMayhewPhotography2 ай бұрын
I’ve thought about this a bit and was going to say depends which lens you use. The wider the filter size the more likely the hood will fit BUT I actually don’t think the two can work together as you need them to because of the size of the filter. In solving avoiding the hard vignette and need to crop while using multiple filters on wide lenses they’ve had to sacrifice lens hoods.

@RalphMayhewPhotography I agree, that's what I was thinking. I actually ordered them through your link, I received them Friday. Does not work with my lens hoods. Unfortunately I sent them back, as I said, that was a deal breaker for me. Nice video though. I'm a little disappointed they did not work. I've been shooting with freewell magnetic about 3 years, they do work with the lens hoods. There is a slight color shift with freewell. I can deal with it in Lightroom, thanks again

Very nice Ralph. Will be ordering mine soon. You actually addressed something that was on my mind. How exactly would locking the CPL in work since it is a piece designed for rotation but by aligning the white line with the spot where the CPL is in full effect means it will seldom ever be a worry. And if using multiple filters, one could just put the CPL on the end so that if it was knocked off then only one filter goes and not the whole stack

This is always one of my queries when working with a non moving cpl. Good call on putting it last.

I hope they make a bigger one, for 86 or 95mm filter thread

Not sure on that. I think the 82 has gone well so I’m sure they’ll be thinking it through.

@@RalphMayhewPhotography Just got confirmed, they will introduce a 95mm version soon. Thanks for your review!

Nice detailed explanation! I guess with step up rings the lens hood stays in the bag ..

Thanks. Yeah it original for the lens, replaced with Nisi’ metal one.

Big mistake not colour coding for ND strength

That’s what I said 🤷🏼♂️ except I don’t think it’s a big mistake. But a significant oversight for sure.
