NiSi SWIFT VND, ND, Mist Filter Kit Review

What do you think about the lNiSi true color filters? Are they on point or are they too far in the cool direction for you?

They might be wonderful filters of great quality but $500 for filters is pretty wild. I guess I’m the wrong target audience for them tho 🤷‍♂️

@@Don_terrenos keep in mind I'm using 95mm filters which are giant. NiSi also makes these filters in smaller sizes wich cost a lot less.

Hi, thanks for review. But why are u doing review about color shift and using AWB ? :) I mean, dont get me wrong, but whole point of video about color temperature is pointless if you dont have same WB for every single filter you tested. Canon is good for AWB, but there are small differences between each clip in WB.

Absolutely. The review would be so much more useful if Vasko had set a custom white balance or even used Cloudy or Sunlight from the Canon presets, showed us how that looked without a filter and then how the footage looks with the various filters. I can tell you the magenta cast at stop 5 of the Nisi True Colour is very strong. Looks good until stop 4 but then it's an unmatchable disaster.

Great review, going to invest in this filter system soon. I'd love to see a review on the Nisi polarizer filter & how it's works with the nisi system.

Thanks for the comment appreciated. I'll probably make the polarizer review in the late spring when things start to warm up a little. I want to setup some outdoor shoots to test the filter. If there is anything in specific you want me to test let me know and I'll put it in my notes.

I have the Nisi 1-5 stops VND 82mm. Since I have a Nisi Nano CPL 82mm I need to add the CPL before, then add the VND on top since the VND outer thread is 86mm. The result is weird overly saturated colors in specific places [around edges of object with highlights] that is difficult if not impossible to color correct. I do not recommend using it as I did. I will try adding it on top of the VND with a step down ring and see.

Thank you for this detailed review! I have the Nisi VND 1-5stops and it does add a slight magenta color cast especially at the maximum setting (5 stops) on a Sony A7 III. I intend to add the Swift system 4stops ND on top of the 1-5stops, will it accentuate the magenta color cast even more?

Ignore my previous comment I totally misunderstood the question. Yes if you double up the filters the effect gets intensified. I did a test during the video where I stacked the VND with the ND and you can see the results.

Really great comparison... and: the first which includes the stacked nd filter solution ☝👍👍👍 the only weak point: what about vignetting (which is rather present with most Vario ND filters)?👍👍👍

Hi thanks for the comment. I didn't notice much vignette in any of my test footage so I didn't talk much about it but you do make a good point. Next video I make looking at VND filters I'll shoot a bright sky to see how much there is.

I saw you have the NiSi True color pro CPL filter. Coincidentally I've just ordered the 82mm version of it for myself. Wanted to know your experience with it. thanks..!!.

So far I've had no issues with the NiSi CPL filter. Really happy with it and the price savings. I have a 77mm B+W and Tiffen CPL and I plan to make a video comparing them. But overall I have no complaints about the NiSi.

Thank you for the good review. How does the polarizing performance of NiSi compare to other CPL filters you have? Are there any problems? I'm also planning to purchase a NiSi True Color CPL to take landscape photos.

I just didn’t understand. Have you used Nisi ND separately from VND in these tests or when you tested ND it is connected with VND?

The ND and the VND are to separate filters. In this video I test them separately and together to show you the different looks they create. Everything is organized into chapters so you can find what you want to see. :)
