82mm filter - really nicely filmed and edited video- this filter looks like the real deal and the hard stop would be a godsend. Thanks for uploading another quality video.

I am the first person to comment. Your channel has helped me immensely. I am a small time wedding photographer and videographer and I like the 72 mm ND Filter, as you suggested,one can use step up rings. I purchased inexpensive 4 stop ND Filter from Kenko,lots of green cast and the clips are unusable. Great review

Looks like a solid choice! As the three months of summer - and hopefully sun - we get here in the north of Sweden is fast approaching I could use a varable ND-filter. 72 mm preferred.

Thanks for the review of this filter. Was only recently considering the Nisi ND 1-5 and may well invest in one soon. If I get the 82mm it will be good for all my lenses.

I’d like 77mm version of the nisi filters, currently own the old nisi vnd’s which are alright in comparison to their competitors but still nothing like you showed us here. Great video as always, keep it up! 👍🏻

I'm using VND with those black mist on it and sometimes it makes a specific clip too dreamy or soft. This would be an excellent alternative when the project does require a quick turnaround with low or no color correcting due to the VND filter. Pairing it with the RevoRing, makes it a quick application to any lens that I use. 82mm filter will be the perfect size!

Thinking this will be my replacement for smashed PMVND. Always seem to get a yellow tint in highlights for photos and a blue cast when right at 5 stops.

I was just experimenting with Tiffen vari-ND filter a few days ago, because a lot of reviews recommended them. However, it has a strong warm/green cast, not difficult to fix in post but nevertheless not pleasant while filming. It would be great to win this NiSi True Color filter, especially because currently it seems it is not available to buy in my country. (btw, in case I win, 67mm diameter is just fine for my needs :) )

That's the craziest step up setup I have seen yet but it honestly looks much more pleasing than a single step up. Does that impact the lens performance in any way? 82mm makes sense to me since the step up rings are much more cost effective.
@jmalmsten2 жыл бұрын
As long as the step-up rings don't let light through between them, I think it shouldn't be a problem to stack them like in the video. Also since you are essentially building a cone/tube in front of the lens you should be careful with wider lenses as a filter that doesn't vignette using one 55->77 mm ring may get far enough in front of the lens to start vignetting once you get through all the separate step-up rings. Then there's a theoretical probable issue with how light may bounce between the front element of the lens and the filter. With many step-up rings that distance is greater which may impact how light bounces. I say theoretical as I have no real evidence or experience with that setup myself and all I can do is guess. There should be some. But in practical terms. It might not even be visible in most circumstances.

@puddytat622 жыл бұрын
Certainly one critical component of modern cameras is the need for an ND. For some reason some manufacturers have neglected this as a built in so the need for a quality aftermarket ND is critical. You really get what you pay for these days so it’s better to spend a bit more and if that few extra dollars saves a shot or a whole day of shooting from a poor ND then it’s worth the money. I’d love the 82 mm.

It doesn’t seem to cut IR, so your mileage may vary in natural light. This is the one thing keeping me on the fence about picking one up. I’m curious whether an IR filter would’ve affected color accuracy.

FYI. I would absolutely not recommend getting cheap step up rings. I have lost multiple filters and one lens due to cheap step up rings warping and essentially fusing onto my equipment. Spend 20 bucks instead of 10 bucks on a better quality step ring and save yourself from losing a $100 to $200 filter.

which ones would you recommend? Seems like there are lots and no idea which are higher quality
