Why didn't you show you actually pulling out the water pump around the chain? Did you really succeed on getting the pump out of the inspection plate hole? I don't think that always works cause I've been trying to wiggle that pump out for (no bullshit) 3 days until I decided to remove timing cover. So far I'm 4 days into this pump and I am a professional no a backyard or shade tree mechanic. Hardest waterpump I've ever seen. 20 plus years experience. It's mind boggling on how some of these vehicles are designed.

I just replaced a cracked radiator, thermostat, and two motor mounts on a Nissan 3.5 for a relative. The parts cost about $200. My relative says that her mechanic wanted over $2000 to make the repairs.
@keithnoneya Жыл бұрын
And he would have deserved every bit of it! These things are a mechanical nightmare. Also don't forget he has to warranty the job, and his overhead is through the roof, and then if he makes any money he has to pay taxes on it. Not to mention the insurance he has to have to protect himself and his business. Most of what a mechanic shop charges isn't for the parts, it's all the crap it costs to keep the shop open. Remember the shop still has to pay out money even if there's no cars in the bays.
@keithnoneya11 ай бұрын
@Aesthetics622 The cost is due to Government Regulations and Taxes. Most dealers don't even own the parts department inventory, the Ford Co. does. The Dealership owner has to buy those parts from Ford at full price. The Dealer has to mark up the price 200-300% to pay for all the other costs to run the shop. The only trade off for the customer is if the vehicle is under warranty the part is free to the dealer, but the Labor the Dealership has to absorb as part of the cost to be a Dealer. Those costs are absorbed some how, so they are absorbed by other customers and vehicle buyers. I'm not saying the parts are expensive they are, I'm saying the reason they are is that 30-40% of that bill is directly tied to direct Taxes and Government Regulation Fees, then there's Embedded Taxes, those are the costs that the suppliers have to pay to get those parts to the dealer. Government Regulations and Taxes are Way out of control. Best Wishes & Blessings. Keith Noneya

Especially the radiator being so much. The part is only 100 dollars on Amazon! Very easy to replace!
@keithnoneya11 ай бұрын
@Aesthetics622 The shop he took it to wasn't a dealer. With that said some dealers don't own the parts department, it's owned and run by the Manufacture and in order for the Dealer to get paid for warranty work by the Manufacturer they MUST use Manufacture Parts from them. So the Dealer pays FULL price for the part, they just pass that cost onto the customer. So you can probably thank the UAW Union for driving the price of vehicles in Labor Costs. You know a vehicle is going to cost big bucks when a UAW Union worker is probably making over 100K after you figure in benefits, the those manufactures have 100's of thousands of those workers. A new Ford Truck is over $100K, it's not the parts, it's the Labor to make the parts and put the thing together. Now with that said good on them UAW Union workers for sticking it to the Manufactures and us.
@keithnoneya11 ай бұрын
@@tylerneal424 It's made in China using slave labor. Most of those workers have to live in the Factory and are not allowed to go home after their shifts. They are also not allowed to form a UAW style Union or they'll be sent to a concentration camp prison. That's why its $100.00 on Amazon. It's not easy to replace either, I've done them, it's a pain the in Arrsssss!

My wife has a QX60. I'm starting to not trust the shop we use because when I asked them to do the transmission fluid because I wasn't going to have time, they charged me 9qts when I never got close to getting that out. They said they just dropped the pan, not a flush. Then they quoted me over $700 to do the plugs, so I did them myself. When do the water pumps normally go bad? Her's isn't having problems, but just over 100k I'm thinking soon. Can you get it from the wheel well in this car? I never looked at it just thought about it today. I've never done one, just a lot of suspensions and other bolt on stuff like down pipes, intercooler and regular maintenance things like brakes and fluids. Hope I don't mess anything up if I try lol.

@PanameraTurboSEHybrid3 жыл бұрын
Water pumps don't go bad often, it's the seals, they get hard and shrinks a little letting coolant leak out through the hole. Some people just change only the seals. But with a high mileage engine, it's only logical to replace the whole pump and seals.
@alvaro933643 жыл бұрын
How do you make space to take of the pulleys? I took off the mount and lifted the engine, it doesn't go any lower than when it had the mount. Still don't have space to use a socket wrench. When I used a rachet, I was damaging the pulley bolt so I stopped. Don't know what to do.

I've had my 2014 Murano with this engine in it and after watching this video, I'm cleaning it up and selling it! A water pump inside the engine, and you have to play with Timing, that's just insane! I'm changing the Radiator out on this today and tomorrow. I would love to smack the team of engineers who designed this set up. I had to take the Grill off, ok, but I also had to pull the battery, the battery tray, three supporting brackets the wiring for the PCM and attached module. Why because the hose clamps are facing up, not down so you could get to them from under the vehicle. Pulling the grill was a nightmare, it took over and hour to figure out how to release the clips and the two outer ones were so brittle they broke. Nope this car is so poorly engineered it's going bye bye! I'm going back to the older Toyota 3.4L 4 Runners and fix the bouncy suspension on them. Thanks for the video. Best Wishes & Blessings.
