What!? The styling absolutely makes this car, it's so timeless. Especially the side profile! It's aggressive and subtle at the same time with that wide stance. You don't have to do much to this car for it to stand out.

I agree. The 350Z especially the rear is one of the best looking cars of all time. De with aftermarket exhaust or a hole in the stock 😝 sounds amazing. Unpredictable low end torque makes this car so fun.

I've had my 07 350Z for nearly a decade now and it's held up fantastically. Besides the common failure of the clutch slave cylinder it's reliable, and while I'm not tracking it I'm certainly not babying it.

The interior is what hasn't aged well. The exterior is still fantastic and has barely aged to my eyes. I think it looks better than the 370z, but I'd still prefer the 370 because interior, rev match, vvel, and it's lighter than the 350

Well said. The clean styling (handles excluded) of the 350Z has really done a lot towards making it last. The interior is definitely American 2000's level plastic fantastic unfortunately. I'm really happy the interior of the new Z is a huge improvement

The HR 350Z is such a fun car. It's more nimble than most V8 coupes, and much more powerful than 4-cylinder NA sports cars. A fantastic middle ground or jack of all trades, even if master of none. It only takes a small handful of well chosen modifications to make the chassis excel, though. A real LSD, more front camber, a larger front sway bar, and a square wheel/tire setup will make it much faster and more rewarding in the corners. I went a little further with mine, adding coilovers and a few other things, and it's the car I miss the most out of the dozen or more that I've owned and sold. It just drove *right* and was so rewarding.

I’m really glad you guys revisited the Z33. I had a bone stock HR and when all was said and done, I just couldn’t get over the weight. Great reliable car, but it never feels as nimble as you’d like. But it’s definitely super reliable and can take a beating.

I own a 2008 350Z Roadster and although it is not the prettiest convertible, it is an amazing car to drive on the backroads on a Summer day. Yes, I have upgraded it with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, Nizmo Ram air, Nismo true Dual catback exhaust and Revel Coilovers. The car looks, sounds and drives great. What else is naturally aspirated, revs to 7500 RPM, with a manual, hydraulic steering and cost around $10K.

I have the opposite view of the exterior. I thought it was one of the best looking sports cars when it first came out, and I think the simple lines made it age well. I think the stigmas of the ricer modifications and poor maintenance make people have a negative perception on its design, but I honestly think if you get a clean stock example, it aged better than the 370Z. It has good proportions and doesn't have any inoffensive lines stock. I do agree though that the interior is atrocious however.

Love my 05Z. makes a good daily driver. Has a few drawbacks such as no glovebox in the dash, the rear strut bar is far too large, doors are very heavy, interior peels bad, rear struts for hatch give out, windshield wiper motor don't work anymore. Then theres the oil burning had to install oil pan spacer to add extra quart for insurance. IMO its the best sounding V6 ever made period. Love it more than roaring V8s.

As someone who had an HR in europe in the past the interior is just fine. The one you guys seem to be in is one of those base models things that only seem to be in the US and it doesnt look as if the owner looked after it... Also has a horrid screen stuck into it. I started doing track days recently and wanted to get out of my mildly modified 91 240sx. The car was pretty old, tired, small, and always had something going wrong with it. An instructor let me drive their track-prepped G35 and I was hooked. I picked up an 07 350 last week. It was already in pretty rough cosmetic shape but mechanically it's all here. It's funny to hear that I'm falling right into the stereotype for this car though. Mines getting little fixes right now, going to the track, and then going to be modified further for continued track use later lol

I have a friend with a 350z and when I drive it I can feel the familial connection to my much older datsun. You can really see how nissan bridged the designs of these cars. Personally my favorite design and where I think the intersection of raw driving dynamics and modern technology blend together the best is in my z32. I love my 280zx, I love the 350z but the z32 really is my favorite Z of all time.

I swapped an NB Mx5/Miata for a 350Z back in 2015. Great car, lovely grunt and much more substantial than the Mazda but no where near as agile and fun on a good country road. If the z car (300zx 350z 370z) has a drawback, it's the community. Every other enthusiast car I've owned, I've gotten somewhat active in the community and gotten a lot out of it. The Z car tends to draw in a lot of people who care only about looks and who take street driving a car that's so low you can't get out of 1st gear on a bumpy road as a badge of honor. The driving experience people exist, but are often distracted by numbers and modifications. Eh, maybe the big problem for me is because I'm a Californian. The Z attracts the sort of Californians who cheat on smog. So it's almost impossible to get any good info on maintaining emissions systems or upgrades that don't make your car illegal to register on the road
@Pennychaser1
@Pennychaser1 3 жыл бұрын
I used to live in CA with modded Z32 TT. I will tell you insane smog laws are one of the reasons I left CA
@thirdpedalnirvana
@thirdpedalnirvana 3 жыл бұрын
@@Pennychaser1 that makes perfect sense. I like being here because of the roads and the availability of rust-free old cars. But I'm also not interested in modifying cars for power. I don't find power fun. Like, the mod I did for power on my NA is an X-pipe, and it wasn't really to make it faster as it was to make it not feel anemic at higher rpm, to the detriment of low end torque. My point is that the z-car community skews heavily towards people who are power hungry. It basically catches all the people who would be muscle car people except they value handling as well. The only reasons I prefer my 300zx to a miata are (1) I prefer how a 6 cylinder sounds, (2) I think chassis rigidity is as important as light weight, and (3) the looks.

I had a 2003 Track Edition for 8 years, purchased new. I now have a tuned 2011 Audi S4. Apples and oranges, I get it. I loved the Z, but family's and Z's don't work so well. The Audi is fast, much faster than the Z. The Audi handles well. Sometimes I think the Audi's a sports car. Then I get to drive the Z again (I know the new owner pretty well :) ) and I remember how awesome the Z is. It handles like it's on rails. The steering is heavy but ridiculously communicative. Those Brembos are superb. There are better sports cars in this range? Maybe I'll enjoy my ignorance, because my Z handled like a sport bike with a cage and 4 wheels. I know this year (2007?) as a reasonable power bump, but I F'ing hate the hood.
