Thanks, for the video/info!... I have eibach coilovers on my teggy,... which is fine/great for a purpose built "Boy Racer" street/weekend warrior machine. ... But, I wanted to keep my Z "everyday livable". ... I just needed some info on what would be the best replacement shocks for that purpose,... and you gave me some great insight!... Thanks, again!..

Looking to hear from an expert on this... In my experience, when shocks get old they get rock hard/firm and this seems to go against the conception that when your shocks are worn out your ride becomes soft and floaty. Not so on my 350z and Corolla. Can you elaborate on this or tell what your experiences are?

It varies on how it's worn out from oil being old, lack of oil, lack of gas charge and or if you springs have failed. I'm currently on KW V3 on my FRS and it's been great. I ran Fortune Auto 500 previous and prior to hat was stock. I've had Tien and Megan on two of my old Miatas and both of those blew and rode really rough.

Just to add on, those Bilstein B6/B8 are monotube shocks while the others listed in this video are twintubes

In this case yes, but not all B6 and B8 shocks are monotubes. Many MacPherson strut applications where an inverted monotube will not fit into the stock mounts use a twin tube design so they can use a thicker shaft to deal with the additional side loads.

so would u say its worth it to go with a custom shock and spring setup likes this, or just go with a prebuilt one like bc racing coilover. sorry for the noob question

A lot of it comes down to your desired ride height because often times coilovers will provide a lot more drop, so if you do not want to go that low, you can get more moderate drop from a lot of spring set ups. With that said most companies have stopped producing dampers with the same level of features and performance outside of their coilover kits and if they do, you usually have to spend enough on the complete package where a threaded body coilover kit would be a better value.
