Nissan 370Z Nismo VS Non-Nismo, Which is Better?

It was a golden Sunday in LA, we went to Supercar Sunday where we saw golden cars, I met up with a friend and subscriber I met on Instagram with a Nismo 370Z and we went to the canyons to do some golden driving where I finally drove the Nismo. Spoiler Alert, it is a completely different car from the standard 370Z.

370z nismo owner here, after driving both it’s definitely worth the extra money. Not only for the extra power and better suspension but the beauty of the exterior as well. Not to mention the recaro seats and rays nismo wheels already make up the price difference used. So everything else is a bonus. Not to mention resale value and the exclusivity of driving a nismo and not just a base model with a nismo body kit

ProDrift 86 what if this dude idea is to fully built this car for show and racing purposes. I would take that base model any day for upgrading, 2 carbon fiber racing seats, the panels will have to go and put some racing type with strap handles.

Sorry but you are wrong. I have a 2014 sport model and have driven the 2015 Nismo. There isn't much of a difference. My car with KW suspension, Tomei exhaust and intake is faster than a Nismo. Corners better as well. The Nismo is nothing more than a bodykit/exhaust/tune. Those Recaro seats? They aren't real Recaro Sportsers. Only the top half. The bottom cushion is still an OEM 370z seat. I have real Recaro Sportsters in my car and there is a big difference in holding capacity. There is no "exclusivity" with a Nismo 370z. They aren't a limited production run like the Nismo 350z was. They don't come with a seam welded chassis like the Nismo 350z did. They aren't a full blown raw feeling track car like the Nismo 350z was. It's way too watered down and civil to be a Nismo.

The Nismo definitely felt special compared to the regular sport Zs I test drove. It also felt quicker in the mid RPM range, most likely due to the lower final gear, lightweight wheels and 18hp extra. However, the looks, seats,suspension and exhaust sound is what really made it feel special. It felt like 80-90% of the Lambo that I drove once, and it's only a fraction of the price. Plus it has other track ready additions, such as track pads, high temp brake fluid and stiffer brake lines.

open diff on the base is not good for any kind of spirited driving. that being said, if you are going to mod the car starting with the base model and "upgrading" or modding with the parts you like, def start with the base model. Otherwise you are paying extra for parts that you are going to take off...

Honestly you can’t really go wrong with either one, both have amazing performance for the price and a hell of a lot of aftermarket mods to do, they’re both great cars coming from a base 370z owner

Nismo all day and every day, not even close. Although you could get a twin turbo set up, roll around without all the exterior flash and be the ultimate sleeper. Shoutout to my main man Vivec from TheSmokingTire.

A front swaybar with spl endlinks would greatly improve a non nismo Z (leave the rear stock for compliance on public crap roads); Should cost less than $300

Sway bar, shocks/springs, body kit, seats, various aesthetic changes, badging, exhaust, wheels and tune. Amongst others, but what you're feeling mostly is suspension differences, it's much stiffer.. I did a 100% NISMO conversino with all NISMO parts, there are changes - they aren't huge but they are there. Although I don't have an official NISMO, it's quite hard to tell mine apart. That being said I went with the 2013-2014 gunmetal rays and the larger style nismo spoiler, much nicer imhp.

@@warlcheezer168 unfortunately not. I couldn't afford the insurance or fuel to run it! Ended up going for a new golf gti instead, which was an excellent car. 370z is still on the list, but not until I'm earning a bit more money. 2 years ago me didn't appreciate the cost of running a proper sports car, haha. I hope you haven't been waiting on an update from me for 2 years 😂

The (almost) $20k price diff is tough to accept............until you test drive one then the other. Did that recently and made the Nismo purchase for me a no-brainer. But will be buying a 2019, low mileage Nismo for about $33K, so a BIG chunk of the $20K price diff is eliminated.

personally i like the looks of the nismo but the suspension is too stiff for me, i love the seats on the nismo tho. i went with sport/touring on my Z because of the price difference and also has better ride. i can always change the front bumper to nismo :D

The Nismo definitely felt faster when I drove it. Most likely due to the lower final gear and light weight wheels. So it's not just the extra 18 hp like many people think.

My friend has an 09' base 370z and my other friend has an 18' 370z nismo and the 09' has just a tune-exhaust-and intakes and it gapped the nismo by 6 car lengths

the 09-14 nismo is noticeably more rigid than the base, making it perfect for track use out of the box (just get an oil cooler). the 15+ nismo went away from that and i'd argue is not worth the extra $$$. However, if you're gonna mod your Z, get the base sport. Comes with the big brake kit standard. It's also worth noting the non-nismo has lower insurance costs.

Not to mention you can add in your own exhaust, KW suspension and tune on a base model and make it faster than a Nismo. These aren't like the old limited production Nismo 350z's which came with a seam welded chassis and were full blown track cars. The Nismo 370z is way too soft especially the 2015+ models. Also IMO the 09-14 Nismo's looked way better with that body kit and wheels.

Have a 2017 370Z Nismo with Stillen ultra-long CAI and AEM resonated test tubes and Michelin P4 305s in the rear - I definitely like it for the price. I'd never stick one of those kids spoilers on the back though...

I've watch a track comparison of the 370z GT vs the Nismo and the GT was the best everyday car but the Nismo was just over 3sec a lap quicker with same driver, so for a track tool get the Nismo but overall performance in a straight line was virtually nothing.

Save the money from the nismo and buy a sports package, use the money saved to buy powertrix or Fortune 500 coilovers and sways and you’ll easily out handle the nismo with money left over. Only reason to get the nismo is the body kit.

Keenan Evans the 350z Nismo handles better than a 370z Nismo. Since the video pretty much focused on how different the handling is between a stock 370 and a 370 Nismo. The 350 Nismo is stiffer with that added hand welded seems by Autech. :)

I've heard more prior 350z nismo owners who now own a 370z Nismo say it was an upgrade than those who thinks otherwise , hence them upgrading from 350z nismo to 370z nismo. I'm NOT speaking for you but most people who say the 350z is better is because they can't afford the 370z or they like its "bodylines" better.
