Good to see other people’s experiences with the Ariya, having taken delivery of my 87kwh Evolve ( 19 in wheels) just over a month ago! I wanted comfort, spacious cabin, high levels of standard equipment, good looks and most importantly a usable range of 300+ miles (say 500km). I can safely say I’ve achieved my goal! The car is absolutely what I wanted, ticking all the boxes! On day two, with 100% battery, I drove a long (for me) journey of 200 miles (approx 322km) and had 100miles (161km) left at my destination. This was mostly UK motorway cruising at 62 mph (100kmh) with air con on and occasionally wipers and lights and an ambient temperature of 15 deg C. I had previously read that cruising at 70mph would dent my range considerably so made a conscientious decision to cruise at a sensible speed that really didn’t make my journey any longer. The following day I did the same on my return and got exactly the same results! Very happy with that! Thank you Jimi for your video.

I can't say I'm seeing more than 270 miles range e.g. over good weather 200 mile daytime drive 26Nov. But it meant no need to get expensive motorway charge. I have to allow for a bit of a £hit on my 300 mile trips though, so I check out cheap train tickets if not requiring to move bulky items.

Great review, i like the car a lot. I believe the reason for the lack of B mode coming to a stop is that some drivers werent using their brakes at all, and they were ceasing up due to lack of use.
@jimirosa4 ай бұрын
It is of course a possibility. It's just an extremely nice feature to have in many competing cars. Some other electric cars also use the mechanical brakes to come to a complete stop...

@@jimirosa yes I have an Ix3 and I use B mode a lot, great for local driving, saves the brakes and also gives you back some miles. Win win

Good to see Nissan coming back. Getting rid of Ghosn was good for the maker. The pioneer is coming back. And Nissan knows how to manage batteries, unlike the prone to caught on fire Hyundai or Kias. Plus, this looks really good.

E-pedal operation on Ariya is much better designed than the Leaf e-pedal for typical driving and does not allow drivers to use e-pedal as a brake to stop but rather leaves braking to a stop as driver's responsibility.
@jimirosa2 жыл бұрын
I don’t agree. I Think that the solution in Leaf that works like Tesla and Polestar was Way better…
@peterattwell62312 жыл бұрын
I agree with Jimi - the e pedal on my previous Leaf was one of the very few things better on that car than on my Ariya - true one-pedal driving is hard to beat - you can adapt to it very easily indeed! Perhaps Nissan will look at incorporating the Leaf type e pedal back in the 2024/5 Ariya or their other full electric cars coming soon!
@thorsev69602 жыл бұрын
I think Nissan should have had the option of true one pedal drive. But I believe the system in Ariya results in better consumption as it allows for low speed coasting.

@@jimirosa I managed to test drive the Ariya Advance with glass roof option today. I will not buy it as it's acceleration was very weak for me especially for the price i can't justify paying £52k for it. I thought it was something wrong with the car when i fully put my foot down it at around 40pmh.

According to Teslabjörn this car is on par with Audi e-tron and MB EQC when it comes to sound insulation, certainly nowhere near Model Y. I own an Ariya and Model 3 (2022) and the Ariya cabin is way more quite, not comparable.
@jimirosa2 жыл бұрын
Well. That's just what I came up with. I measure with an app on my phone (nothing fancy), but it's the same app and phone I've used on all the cars. Tires and weather conditions can of course play a role, but I think that my result is relatively correct. Thanks for watching
@arnorjonorvarsson62152 жыл бұрын
@@jimirosa ok, Björn measurements are a bit more advanced. I think if you just drive a Model Y and Ariya back2back you will notice a substantial difference straight away, especially if you find bad roads and have windy conditions (both standard here in Iceland). Autogefühl, Alex on Autos, Redline Reviews, Teslabörn etc. all mention how very silent the cabin is.
@Cosmycal2 жыл бұрын
I can confirm with a certificated decibel meter in hand that the Ariya is significantly more silent than all of its non premium competitors, more than a single dB digit in nearly every scenario.

Unfortunately there's a great reason, it's not available and Nissan keeps pushing the dates back and then going silent on communication. I reserved it a year ago. Don't see it arriving anytime soon. I wish I bought something else back then when interest rates and prices were all lower.

You’re right. But unfortunately everyone has the same problem with deliveries right now…
@SteYoung2 жыл бұрын
So its very typically Nissan. A slightly competitively priced, middling allrounder with some nice spec thrown in to tempt buyers away from the glitzy EV allstars from Polestar, Kia, Hyundai and Tesla. Im a teeny bit disappointed that Nissan did not equip this car with at least 1 class leading, class matching or notable headline feature. They could have tried for uber charging speed or high end range / efficiency or even (grasping at straws), biggest boot capacity etc. But everything seems to be 6.5/10, which is no bad thing I guess. But, despite this, I have ordered an Ariya to replace my wife's Volvo XC60 because of the 1 thing that it seems to have in its favour over its similarly priced competitors. Its shape!. My wife wanted an SUV EV of similar size to replace her XC60. For the budget its ticks that particular box and is the sole reason we chose the Ariya over the rest. We just have to wait out the 9-12months for delivery. PS Great Video Jimi, to the point with interest!

Thanks alot for input and for watching. I like the 3 fase 22 KW charging that We have in Denmark, similar to the Megane e-Tech. But except from that, You are right.
@Cosmycal2 жыл бұрын
There's some reason to chose the Ariya over the rest, that is if you want an ultra flat charging curve, being it at 22kW AC or at 100kW DC aprox, it can sustain 90kW DC until 85% of SoC, no other rival in its price can do that.
@SteYoung2 жыл бұрын
@@Cosmycal Are those really serious considerations for buying the Ariya? A flat charge curve and 22KW AC?. Is that how the Ariya stand out of the crowd?

@@SteYoung When only talking about the charging landscape? Yes. In other aspects there are other additional reasons of course.

Selling an EV after 6-7 years it won't be easy cause the battery life will be already lost it's capacity and who else going to by an EV where the battery itself may died in 1/5 years or less and after that you need to expend a large sum of money so it's for that reason I'm not considering to buy an EV for now.
