Nissan Cube Tail Light Bulb Replacement

Helpful tips when replacing bulbs in the taillight assemblies on a 2009 Nissan Cube. Note: Installation of the center piece is NOT simple reversal of the removal process. I show the proper installation process beginning at the 41st minute of this video. This video also models non-destructive trial-and-error, and the patience required while working towards a solution via such heuristic methods. The tail light assembly holds the brake light, parking light, turn signal, and backup light.

Good deal. You also showed how to detach and replace the rear taillight assemblies. Some A-hole smacked my passenger side with a Walmart shopping cart, creating a small hole that water will get into. Too bad you can't catch them in the act. Anyways. Thank you for the upload. It was helpful.

A big huge "THANK YOU" for your video. It was precise and informative. I too have a 2009 Nissan cube Krom. It was the first time , after 120,000 miles, the Left brake light failed to function. I watched your video twice and decided to change all the bulbs. Auto Zone had all the bulbs needed. I decided to replace the brake lights with LED bulbs. All the components to the lights came apart with a little bit of "boldness". In checking to see if my brake lights and the others were working, I had to change one brake light bulb failed to light up. I turned the bulb around 180 degrees and everything worked fine. Reassembly was accompanied with a little "boldness", but I knew that would be OK. Thanks again for your valuable instruction. I'm sure we saved big bucks!

hello, do you know how to remove the black connector with the wires? I am currently replacing the tail light cover but finding it difficult to remove the black connector?? thank you!

I think you might be referring to the connectors which hold the backup lights, which I remove during 9:40 to 9:50 in the video. If so, then the technique is to (first) push the connector, inwards, gently, towards the lens. Next, twist the connector in a counter-clockwise direction, relative to the backside of the lens assembly. However, because you'd be facing the front of the lens assembly, as opposed to the rear of the lens assembly, the twist will LOOK as though it's a clockwise twist. Most technicians rely on the feel, as opposed to the look. If your hand is familiar with the feel of loosening a typical screw, nut, or bolt, then you can rely on the feel, as opposed to relying on the look, of which direction you want to turn the connector, in order to free the connector from the lens assembly. I hope this helps.

Hi there. Great learning video! Can u point out what lightbulbs are what? Like u called out a 7443. Can u say which each bulb is? Brake, back lights, reverse, hazzards... Also ...@ 19:22 ...I do know that it’s easier, if u pop that corner first (with a flat head or one of those yellow flat tools u have) without applying any pressure to the other end (the end that u unbolted) then it slides out pretty easy.

Judging from the first -half of the 10:00 th minute of the video, it's likely the bulbs are: 921 for BackupLight, 7507 for TurnSignal&HazardSignal, and 7443 for TailLight&BrakeLight. However, you could probably verify those numbers easily at an auto parts store, using their lightbulb flip book or lightbulb reference manual. Also, please note the error I made between 7:11 & 7:25 in the video. The error references a lack of a retaining clip/tab/tang. The source of my error might've arisen from my viewing-angle relative to the lens assembly, or it's possible the tab/tang might've previously gotten broken-off, from the lens assembly. The retaining clip/tab/tang ought be protected from being damaged during removal of the lens assembly. Preserving the clip/tab/tang ought help fully-retain the lens assembly during re-installation of the lens assembly onto the car. You can see that there is a tab/tang on the lens assembly during 18:10 through 19:35 of the video. Thank you for commenting!
