I borrow an e-NV200 electric van from Glyn Hopkin Nissan and drive it into the centre of London to find out whether it can cut the mustered. Support the channel on Patreon: / jamescooke

this is perfect for city van dwellers: no maintenance (except tires and maybe breaks-but the motor can do regenerative breaking so maybe no break change for a long long time) and no clogged filters due to small trips and lots of starts and stops. I love the silence too and the massive torque on tap. and you can recharge it with pv panels - perfection when it will be mainstream so the spear parts will be easily available! i can't wait

First time checking out your second channel. Sounds like the van will be getting a bit more range this year. Any idea on a release in the United States?

Nice video. I want one. Have to say, I'm not sure where you are parking in central London for a pound or two. Lucky to do that for a tenner.

Hopefully the ENV200 will get the 30kWh or soon to be announced at the LA auto show 41kWh battery, then the range will hopefully be a realistic 150 miles, especially great for the combi version with 7 seats. I wish the LEAF had the regen screen too, oh well I'll just have to rely on leafspy.

No doubt leafspy is going to be much more in detail than anything that comes built in by a manufacturer. Not sure if/when the ENV200 will get a 30kWh+ battery. At the moment they are basically based on gen 1 LEAF tech, they don't even come with a heat pump!

What about heaters when in winter. Regular vehicles use hot water and coolant to heat air for the cabin? How do ev's work?

Like the idea of your EV focused channel, but still love the vlog. One comment, I have an Ampera and the pick up is instant in EV mode, there is a lag if you are out of charge and using the generator though. Perhaps that is what you remember?
@GeekOutEV6 жыл бұрын
That may well be the case, when I test drove the Ampera the silly dealership didn't have the car fully charged.

Don’t think it was quite fully charged ?

lso 1 more idea would be to put the heater a\c on recirculate an tell us if the different vehicles you drive can keep out the smell of polution
@GeekOutEV7 жыл бұрын
Next time I drive into London, I'll have to remember to do that. Cheers.

Tesla is refitting some Model X vehicles and is going to use them as van for the tesla ranger network.

What did you think?

it was strange with the sound and speed, I can fully understand people putting they own sound when traveling along - I do like your van

didnt you upload this on your main channel

This one has no vlog content (it concentrates for the most part on the van) and goes into more depth. That's the idea behind this channel, more info about the given subject and a bit more focus as well.

How does the efficiency of an empty van (or any EV) compare to a fully loaded one? Assuming the start and end are at the same elevation. Seems to me that there shouldn't be huge differences if there is regenerative braking since the loss by air resistance is the same. There isn't the loss of converting the kinetic energy of all the cargo to heat everytime you stop. BTW, looking forward to more EV content! :)
@GeekOutEV7 жыл бұрын
In my experience (first with a LEAF and now with the Tesla), the difference between fully loaded and empty is virtually unnoticeable. Granted the UK is quite flat as places go though.

"it's fully charged" 😂😂😂 Don't ask me why that is funny
@QALibrary7 жыл бұрын
if you loaded the van up would that effect the range?
@GeekOutEV7 жыл бұрын
In my car it (both the Tesla and when I had the LEAF), the difference in range when full is barely noticable. I suspect the situation is very similar in the van. Provided you get as much braking done using regen as possible, the impact will be minimal.

@8:55 Panelvan that is. ;) @9:06 Isn't it an option for this panelvan? @9:58 In the city it doesn't make much of a difference performance wise but range wise. @10:49 The "noise" is not the problem thanks to sound dampening. If you aren't CO² believer, why would you care about "polution?" If London's mayor really cared about "pollution," he would ban vehicles with combustion engines but apparently he is more into the money of things. ;) If you are nuts like that, you should be consequent, otherwise it is not credible. AFAIK Norway is completely and consequently nuts. At least it looks like it. :)

That's the idea, this will be the home for the longer more in depth versions of things that don't fit fully in the vlog.

Electric car parking should be used while you are charging, mate. You just ICE'd an EV driver with an EV. I have an NV-200 but there are so few fast chargers in western Switzerland that I can't use it for my move.
@JamesCookeVlogs7 жыл бұрын
That would be true if the charger had been working. Those chargers had been out of order for about 2 years. Luckily they are now working (totally new charge post was put in).
