Nissan Frontier A/C no cold air, A/C compressor turning off with new compressor and Freon

I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier 3.3L V6, and the air conditioning compressor would sporadically turn off and on. no cold air. Then i had a new A/C compressor installed, and recharged with freon professionally. It did the exact same thing, and the A/C guys were at a loss, and gave up after the A/C worked for one day. They were going to bring in an electrical guy to check out the computer signal to the A/C and wanted to do some bypass, and i told them i would get my own guy to check it out, since they didn't seem to know what they were doing at this point. It turned out to be the Air Conditioning Thermo Switch, located on the evaporator, inside of the air box. I show how you can replace it. I purchased the A/C thermo switch at Autozone. The brand name was Santech Automotive
part # MT1637
Mines was a 3 wire sensor.

Thanks for this. I think I may be hitting this for my 98 pathfinder. my compressor is not getting power to turn on and I verified that my relay, fuse, pressure switch are all in order, and that the system is pressurized. My next step according to the service manual is to test the A/C switch, which is behind the A/C interface on the passenger side. I think its most of the same stuff I need to remove, so thanks for the info on getting to it. It may still be the thermo switch, but wanted to check first if there's continuity between the AC switch and the pressure sensor to see whether that section has the problem. Hoping to get things cooling again before it gets hot out here

Yea, i had a hell of a time figuring out this issue. Thats why i posted it. I wish i could have had a bit better video, but it is what it is.

Whats the purpose of taking out seat and center console (IF) it's behind the Dashboard?🤔

Because you have to take the center console off, in order to do that the seat has to cone off. Behind that center console, in the sub dash there ate bolts. The video was not the best. Also taking the seat out makes it super easy to work. Its only 4 bolts.

On my 2011 nissan Frontier i notice the AC starts blowing hot when it hits 40-80 miles per hour on the expressway. My Temp is within normal .. will a bad thermostat do this?

Honestly i wouldn’t be able to tell you if thats the issue. I took mine into a shop and after they couldn’t figure out anything else i looked to this sensor

Was the a/c botton light on at the beginning? Or was it off.

@@raiderman28 my a/c was working fine, I replaced cabin air filter and moved thermo cable and a/c button light went off and ac stop working, could be botton or thermo sensor?

@@christiantlatenchi7259 could be that sensor. Its been a while since i did this repair. I tried everything. I even check power to the switch. Thermo switch is like a fuse. It can also cause light not to turn on.
