Nissan Frontier....Rockville Low Profile Subwoofer Install

I'm getting ready to do the same install in my '09 Frontier, same location but I'm going to flip it the sub around and have the connections facing forward. I have a crew cab and I'm worried about foot clearance for anyone sitting in the back seat. Thanks for the video.

Anybody sitting in that passenger seat is gonna have their hemorhroids vibrated when that subwoofer kicks in,lol😄. Nice installation though, radio should sound really good now.👍🎶🎶🇺🇸 Btw wrapping that foil on the wires is a good tip👍

Yes who ever sits in the passenger seat does get a wild ride..🤣 The system sounds good. I also installed the JBL GTO speakers that will come in the next video.

Hey, Chief! Please would this size of Subwoofer have enough power if placed in the trunk of a Mercedes E Class, or would the sound not be enough to penetrate into the interior? Thanks

Hello Benzo, No I don’t think this would be a good choice to be mounted in the trunk. You wouldn’t be happy with the sound level. Try a single box and a 12” subwoofer. I think you would get better results from that combination. Thanks for watching!!

@DIYWilly Sorry, please, one more question. Is it the size of the speaker that matters or the size? For instance, will an 800W 8" speaker 🔊 not be produce same quality as an 800W 12" speaker if both were placed same place in the trunk?

No nothing wrong with an 8” speaker. Really depends on what you want. An 8” will fill the low frequencies quite nice but a 10” or 12” will produce much more sound from the larger cone and usually larger voice coil. This is my opinion. Multiple 8” can produce the same pressure as a 12 but bigger is better. Again this is my opinion. If I were to do it again in my truck I would do 2 12” in a ported box so I could feel all the lows. I like bass!!

All you have to do is ground the parking brake wire. No bypass needed.

The original installer grounded the parking brake and still most of the feature were grayed out on the Alpine head unit. This use of the bypass opened all the feature for full use while driving. Thanks for the tip and for watching!!

Alpine and Kenwood won't work with a simple ground anymore. Bypass is needed for most of their new products.

I put a little flip switch. It was last years alpine ilx-507. The lead from the stereo to the switch and grounded the switch. 🤷‍♂️

you need a bypass transistor they cost like 10 bucks.

I just bought one of these and it didn't make a difference in my sound quality. Maybe its because i have the factory head unit. But i returned it.

Hello Alejandro, I’ve installed this in two different vehicles now and I can say yes there both doing great. But also taking into consideration that this is a low profile sub it’s not going to provide the deep low hear it out side your vehicle bass. It’s really good at filling in the low frequencies to make the music more enjoyable. So I guess if you want thunderous bass then try and get a bigger box and a good 12” but if you just want good sounding music it’s definitely a good option. Thanks for watching!!
