I'm thinking about going from Z24i (with an ECU) to one of the Mercedes diesels. Wanted OM606 but it's probably not gonna fit. OM617 though, might be a better option. Have you considered other options?

I really did it, because the Mercedes I had, was 30 years old and totally worn out body wise. It was rusted beyond repair, and I needed a project to do. At the time, I was running the Mercedes on vegetable oil, and getting around 35 mpg. Being into diesel engines, I thought why not swap the engine into something smaller. And this is what turned out. I still have some bugs to workout, ie, injector cleaning and injection pump timing. But even so , with it having 1/3 the horsepower, it moves right

I worked with a guy that mated a 4 cyl Mercedes engine to a Toyoya 5 speed transmission, and put it all in a Ford Courier pickup. He loved it and drove it for many years. Your set up is awesome also.

In one of my other videos, I did a fuel economy test, and it gets 42 mpg.

It's a toyota radiator in the stock area. The stock mb 4 speed. And a om617 would probably fit, except for the heater core hose that goes into the rear of the head. The oil pan dictated where the engine went. I already had this motor, and it fit perfectly.

very nice conversion and lots of work. probably a smoother running and more hp than the sd22. For anyone that wants to do a diesel conversion to their nissan truck, there is a company that makes an adapter for the vw tdi tdconversions.com/nissan

Used weld in mb diesel engine mounts. Forgot who made them. They are made to use the stock mb rubber mounts. Which I couldn't use, frame was like 2 inches to narrow. Notching the frame was over my head. But it would've gotten rid of the engine vibration I have.

marcus weeks makes sense if you have one there already. I’ve seen a lot of those engines being transplanted into YJ Wranglers.

Jacob Gambrel my advice is to get a complete donor vehicle. and take lots of pictures as you disassemble. and remember Google is your friend on weird questions. there is also a page with lots of info, www.4btswaps.com they have different categories and one of them is the Mercedes-Benz swaps. I just found a car with one on my local craigslist!! I am going to use that for my donor. This is my first diesel swap BUT FROM WHAT I HAVE READ ITS NOT AS HARD AS A CUMMINS OR IDI SWAP.

Jacob Gambrel it's not that bad. the motor is super simple and somewhat easy to maneuver around. if you do some Google searches, you can find some weld in motor mounts for that engine and I even found an adapter for the rear of the transmission to a Spicer U joint so I could use a more readily available drive shaft.
