This is absurd! Nissan has great cars but apparently TERRIBLE software engineers and UX designers. I've been to a Nissan dealership just last week and the seller didn't even know there is an app, Then she went talk to her manager and the guy said the app isnt compatible with the Leaf 😅 I've been looking for a while know and yours is literally the first and only video I found abut this app.

Thank you for posting. I'm still up to my neck in this mire. Nissan customer services have sorted out some of the problems that you show here but I still can't get any data on the app. Customer services are still trying, I think. Now I will watch your video over and over until the answer hits me, if it ever does.

I had similar issues over a year ago. Like yourself I initially used the wrong app and then because my Leaf had be preowned I could not take ownership. It was a nightmare for a couple of weeks getting in sorted with Nissan. I think the infrastructure was upgraded at something as the service was flacky but now fairly reliable. Hope I don't regret my last comment!!

Thank you! I too am unsurprised that the App has such a low score. Getting my Nissan Leaf "connected" was a nightmare until I came across your video. I'm all connected now and much less frustrated knowing that it wasn't just me :-)

Aw shucks 🥰. Glad I could help, it should be way more intuitive than this! But actually once your there it’s quite a solid app.
@johnbolton78943 жыл бұрын
Brilliant , a much needed how to. The only addition is that after 2 years using the app at least twice it has stopped working and logging off and on seems to cure it. It is as you say one of the coolest features, you must post this on the Leaf and EV Facebook groups.

Thanks! At least I downloaded the correct app now. Need to disconnect the VIN from previous owner, lets see how that goes.

Had the same, needed the customer service for that. You need the user id from you plus to log in the app

I usually stick with the website in mobile browser option rather than an app. Generally it seems to work at least as well and I trust the browser code more than an app hastily thrown together on the cheap with a bunch of permissions that seem irrelevant to the advertised functions.

Hi mate. I haven't had access to my ev connect app after 6 months into my ownership of the leaf , I thought it was because I upgraded my android phone to a newer operating system and whilst I had asked Nissan UK why this was, they asked me to have the head unit to have the latest software installed at the dealership and yet the issue was still evident. Since then I have given up until now... :) I've watched your video and noticed Nissan UK has created a new web page complete with new elements to complete (Really epic of them to NOT notify owners that this was around....but that's Nissan all over given my experience if you followed my channel of ownership!) Anyway just wanted to drop you a message here to say thank you so much for this as my app is working perfectly even on the latest version of Android in 21. My vlog has been suspended due to a move to the midlands and a career change, but once I restart it, I will mention your video and put up a link if that's ok as there's probably thousands of owners in the dark about the change. Cheers George

Awesome George glad it was useful, interesting how car companies still think they only have to worry about the car these days!

This works well as of 2022-07. But you need to get the right app.

My Leaf app is slightly different, maybe because i own the car. It was however a lot easier to set up than yours, maybe because i set mine up in September, when it was nice out. The only issue i do have is for security it requires me to login every now and then, but because it auto populates the username and password, it doesn't, so i do have to delete a character of my password or username and re-enter it and it is fine. Minus points are if it is set up on a timed charge and i manually tell it to charge, I cannot tell it to stop. By the way if you have the option it also turns on the heated steering wheel too.

Went in to dealership today to be told that any issues need to be taken up by Nissan directly. Surely the dealerships should be the public face of Nissan? Got home and contacted Nissan in their live chat online. Our problem was that the previous owner hadn’t deleted this car from their account. We are now sending proof of ownership with a reply to an email they’ve sent us. Fingers crossed that this works🤞

Mmmm..so . The Moral of the story is, install the correct app, ideally do it as soon as you get your car in your case summer to avoid last minute rushing, then follow the guide and choose the services ..and all is well. Lol. Great show.

Yes, do that 👍 and for extra internet points make a video about it called “Nissan leaf app setup easy as pie” 😂

I've had two LEAFs since 2013 and was a Nissan Innovation Specialist. Nissan You+ is their portal as you eventually found out. Every LEAF that was handed over with the owners permission I connected fully before they left. In my experience the Nissan app worked most of the time and their server, then in France always failed over the weekend and on a Monday morning was rebooted when they came back to work, don't know if thats improved? You got there in the end. I had the same ZE40 as you and the instant fob button was great. Now I've a Hyundai Ioniq Electric 28kWh and sadly it has no app but the new 38kWh does.
@eviain3 жыл бұрын
Indeed I can see why you would, easy once you know how! So far I have found it quite reliable and very useful in this current snowy weather ❄️. Very much miss the fob on the ze40, the 50 app is not a patch on that!

I bought a used 2018 and gave up on the app after playing around with switching the car on and off for a couple of hours. I just use the controls in the car instead. Note that there is no app support for cars older than 2017.

I have a Nissan Leaf S Plus and you must have the SV (heated seats). I have never connected with the NissanConnect EV app to my car. Suspect NissanConnect EV are only compatible with the high end SV model. Have you received any info that would contradict my assumption (little more than assumption since two Nissan Phone Reps advised me S Plus was not supported)?

Mine is the n-connecta not quite the top of the line in that year, I don’t understand why they wouldn’t support all leaf models, that’s just silly.

Good video pal, it felt very pessimistic though! I must have been very lucky as mine worked first time without any issues at all. I also saw the 2 apps and selected the one that was labeled EV. I also had to register on the Nissan and you website but I know I had to do that as I believe I saw that in the owners manual pack? Could be wrong. I hope your experiences improve and we can get some upbeat positive videos ☺️

Can I ask what model your Leaf is? I have a 2022 accenta and after many attempts and kicking off with Nissan cust servs and dealer I have had to give up on the app. Apparently not all Leafs are compatible with the app, despite the dealer selling it to me as a key EV feature. This in turn makes my charger dumb as it can't talk to the car. The dealer told me they had never come across this problem before, but when you enter the VIN into the Nissan website it lists the car as incompatible. So how are Nissan selling this but are blissfully unaware (or lying)? Not impressed with the company who should be leading the game at this. Thanks for the video.
